    absolutely.

they stood for nothing. their principled foundation stood on quicksand.

I've read several Wash Post articles this week about Biden's scrambling campaign, none of them encouraging. Their strategy seems to be "encouraging people to be more empathetic" and "emphasizing his love of ice cream."  This election is going to be a disaster. I can feel it.

That was my first question. Below is from the article. I guess in her situation it makes sense in case you need to go after someone for defamation or something.

Wigdor said he plans to help Reade in her dealings with the media and any independent investigations into her allegations that might occur. He said the two have not discussed bringing a lawsuit based on her claims, but he did not rule that out.

So trial by media, in the court of public opinion.

Not a real trial, in a real court.

That's what it looks like. Could she bring a case against him today? Not my area of expertise.

She could likely bring a civil case against him.  Of course that would mean under oath depositions for her, her friends, brother, Biden, etc.

Gotcha. At this point I'd be surprised to see that happen.

Other than an extremely narrow fringe, no one is advocating for things to be "open again right now." The debate is over when states should begin this first phase of loosening up.

There are huge physiological implications to keeping things locked down, also. Exacerbation of behavioral health issues, domestic violence, and chronic medical conditions chief among them. With 33 million people unemployed, how many more people will be struggling with homelessness over the next year and beyond? There is no side of this argument that wouldn't involve people making a list if that's what we're doing.
Following up on this point from a couple days ago with the CNN article below. There are no easy answers and unfortunately every path is going to come with a human toll. The vast majority of people want to minimize suffering; if we don't agree on the path it's because there is still a lot of uncertainty.

You mean it's not because the person with whom we disagree is just completely and deplorably wrong? That's crazy talk, man.

Bovada has Trump at -120 and Biden at +130. Wouldn't be surprised if that flips after Biden officially gets the nomination. Go get paid.

You're not kidding! I've been watching Korean baseball for a week. This close to jumping in on some KBO DFS.

I just realized that we're going to miss the LLWS and the CWS too.  Goddammit I love baseball.  The great thing about baseball is that it's always good, no matter the level.  Watching minor league hockey sucks compared to NHL.  But minor league baseball (or Korean) is still high quality baseball.

It really is. ESPN has been doing a great job with the broadcast, too. They've had guys on like Thames and Lindblom who played in the KBO and came back. They had Adam Jones on the other day from Japan. Trevor Bauer was on this morning. We're still at least a month out before the NPB starts up and who knows about MLB. This has been a solid substitute. Definitely worth DVRing.

If hockey is were someone’s  favorite sport, they would enjoy minors or college.

Baseball has some inherent problems outside of MLB.

For me, CWS is very difficult to watch. I hear the aluminum ping and I am out the door.

And the DL is a disaster. Even the AL can be a tough pill to swallow at times.

The Disabled List? Yes, that roster is a disaster, they’re all hurt. “Now, here’s the wind up from Price and it’s way outside to the backstop for ball four. You know Johnny, he should have had Tommy John surgery a month ago but he’s still pitching. Quite the warrior that Price. Next up with two on is Mookie Betts, coming to the plate with a broken ankle. He’s wincing but boy can he swing the bat, isn’t that right?”

I’d pay to watch that about now. Not wishing harm or injury on any professional sports player.

Compared to the NHL the minor leagues "suck"....but in markets where minor league is all you have it is great.  In Indianapolis we have the Indy Fuel which is the Blackhawks ECHL team.  The games are intense, rivalries are intense, etc.  Good stuff.

I think there's a dramatic quality of play difference between NHL and the ECHL, as an example.  It's a far larger drop off than MLB to AAA.

I prefer college sports in general to pro sports (though not baseball as my school didn't have it and I hate the ping of metal bats).  That said, college hockey is a far lesser product than the NHL.  Their inability to make/receive clean passes gets pretty frustrating.  On the rare occasions I go to an NHL game, I marvel at how much better the game is (also more expensive and lacking the connection I have to my school).  I could totally see a hard-core NHL fan not wanting to go to a college game.

In hoops, the level/ability drop is noticeable but it's still a more enjoyable game to me than the NBA.  Football...to me the quality difference is negligible (and the atmosphere is way better in college).  My little experience with college baseball is that the quality is OK and the game is probably as watchable, but my lack of rooting interest, the degree to which it's a a fringe sport in the cold midwest, and the metal bats kinda keep me away.
