My guess is that GA will come back. festivals will come back, and pretty much everything will come back but on a lower level of luxury.  Most of us in the first world have been living in a bubble of time that started just after WWII when wealth (at least relative wealth) and ease of living became common.  The coronavirus burst that bubble and we will not see it return to the level it had been before.  This was inevitable anyway because we in the first world have consumed more resources and energy than the planet could inevitably continue to sustain.  This pandemic, besides being the horrible disease it is, has ushered in a new, less affluent era.  This does not have to necessarily mean a lower quality of life.  In fact, if we learn to live within our means, more simply, more purely, more reasonable and more responsibly, it could usher in a much better era in human history.  If not, it may well lead to one of the most unsettled, strife ridden periods of human history.  The choice is ours.

So...less affluent as in fewer $200 to $300 concert tickets?
(Kudos to PJ keeping costs down).

Based on antibody tests that have not yet proven to be reliable?

Based on whether covid immunity has been proven to be attainable?

A telling sentence in their abstract “ Individuals that are frailer, and therefore more susceptible or more exposed, have higher probabilities of being infected“
That has not been proven true yet. They have a higher probability of dying, not of being infected.

I'm disgusted by some in the Forum, another thread,  that are so fucking insensitive to the 77,000+ deaths and all they are concerned about is Ohana.

Yeah, I've decided to stay the F away from that thread. Sure, I'd love to see PJ....but going to a concert is the last thing on my mind right now.
    Be well, all.

I never have nor would spend that kind of money to see anyone- short of God, maybe, and she'd better be the real deal!

No, I mean less affluent in general.

They may have a higher probability of infection. Something I came across earlier, apparently your body has mechanisms that can fight off viruses and prevent infection even if you're exposed. It may be the case that those systems are not as strong in frailer individuals.

    "Step 2: Infection

Now let’s imagine that through one of these means an infectious virus particle enters your body. You are not automatically infected. Your body has a number of defensive barriers to prevent infection."

It is inert meaning it was fired before and no longer usable. Ridiculous that you can carry that around as a scare tactic used or not. What the fuck is wrong with people and how is this ok to walk into Subway with.

@pjl44 CDC position on covid immunity:

” An antibody test looks for the presence of antibodies, which are specific proteins made in response to infections. Antibodies can be found in the blood of people who are tested after infection and show that people have had an immune response to the infection. Antibody test results are especially important for detecting previous infections with few or no symptoms.

However, we do not know if the antibodies that result from SARS-CoV-2 infection will provide someone with immunity from a future infection.”

Didn’t know Dr. G posted on AMT? I am just trying to understand what is up with this virus. Especially in the trump information, quality info is a challenge.

Context for the White House cases:  if the DC metro area, including parts of Maryland and Virginia, were a state (which some of us wish it were), we would rank 4th in the nation, more than even Michigan, which gets a lot of press. This, in spite of two governors and a mayor working together to take sensible, cautious steps to mitigate spread and re-open.
