  • Mine just needed a software update.  Once that was done, Apple TV app was on the main screen and Gigaton popped right up.  (Also looking forward to watching the Spike Jonze Beastie Boys special, also out today.)

It’s not on my Apple TV :s

Search Gigaton. I logged into my girls Apple TV account. Pearl Jam didn't show up. Gotta search for it to view.
I found it in the Apple TV app on my phone but not on my TV. The Apple TV box is basically just iTunes, right?! It’s not there. And when I try playing it on my TV via AirPlay it just displays an error message
Same here.  Can you not get the Apple TV app through the Apple TV box?
Doesn’t look like it. I can access the iTunes Store but not the App Store. My box is probably too old, I‘ve had it for 6 years at least
I have a 3rd Generation Apple TV and can’t find it. I’m guessing you need one of the newer boxes that has the App Store.
Yeah. But also, Apple TV is just included as a base app. No need to DL it.
You can watch it on an older Apple TV.  Just perform a search for Gigaton and it comes up.  Watching it now.  My Apple TV is 6 years old.
Where exactly do you search? I can only do a search in iTunes for movies or TV shows via my Apple TV. It doesn't show up
I’m in the same boat here. Do you have the Apple TV with the silver remote or the newer Siri remote?
Old silver remote. Software is up to date it says. No app, no App Store so that’s probably it
I found a support doc stating that the Apple TV app was available in Apple TV software version 7.3. My Apple TV is at 7.2.1. I’m going to dig into this a little more after work.

I‘m at version 6.2.1 which seems to be the best the old box can do. That’s what you get taking the old hand-me-downs from your dad ;) he can certainly watch it!

I am loving the visuals with Retrograde - that slow motion butterfly - beautiful - and the gathering storm clouds at the end - perfect.

Are the visuals any different than what we have already seen on YouTube?

I'm watching it right now. I had to do a search for Pearl Jam, they don't make it easy. But it's a gem once you find it. Love it!!

I have a pretty awesome 5.0 setup.  I had a 5.1 but the front towers make so much bass, having a separate subwoofer was pointless.

I'm playing this via the Apple TV app on my Fire TV 4k (which I only have a 1080p tv).  It looks amazing.   Doesn't sound nearly as amazing as bluray.. so I'm guessing it doesn't use the Atmos track on the fire stick :(

I don't think so.  I only watched the youtube videos once, but they look the same.  Superblood wolfmoon is the animated music video.

Damn. Now I'm gonna need an Apple TV subscription?
Wouldn’t worry too much about it.  Its a well done album length music video but if you weren’t planning to spend the money, don’t do it for this.   It’s well done.  And very cool.  But I’m sure you’ll see it elsewhere in time.  Just listen the the album and watch a cool video and you’ll be fine.

If you were planning to get Apple TV anyway, then yeah, this is cool.  But don’t make this out to be more than it is.

Edit - I should caveat.  If you have the set up to take advantage of the sound then it is a cool extra.  I assume most people don’t.  And even then not sure it’s worth. Would have been cool to see in the theater to really take advantage of the intended experience.

You don't really have to pay for it.  It's free for the first 7 days.   I'm going to watch this, and the beastie boys doc and cancel it.

My son just watched the whole thing with me. He was so transfixed by the visuals I don’t think he realised that I was brainwashing him into the world of PJ!

I was able to watch it on my Fire stick on this TV. But could only get Dolby Digital Surround, not true Atmos. I have Ia 9.1 Atmos setup, 5 floor with 4 in the ceiling. I also have a fire stick 4K in my bedroom, I assume I need that instead??

Cool.  Except that did cost you.  It’s an opportunity cost.   There may be something better you’d have been better off using that for at some point.  To each their own. Enjoy!

haha I accept your argument of opportunity cost.  I wonder what show I'll miss out on the future.

In regards to now, I've been drawn in to For All Mankind.
  • Gigaton is coming out as a BluRay in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound.

I’m having the worst luck trying to get this to play on my tv.  3 fire sticks and apparently none of them can get the Apple TV app.  An LG OLED smart tv that supports Atmos and it won’t get the app until later this year.  An actual old school Apple  TV 2nd generation that can’t get the Apple TV app because for whatever reason only gen 3 and up can get it (WTF Apple).  And the Apple TV app won’t let me mirror from the iPad even though I can mirror everything else.  I’m usually pretty tech savvy but this one is torturing me.
