Bad boy Tegnell on Sweden keeping schools open:

    - No large outbreaks have happened.
    - The most spread is happening in the homes within families. So not that big risk of having teachers working - if not sick.
    - The spreading of the virus in schools that have occured is by teachers coming in with symptoms, and infecting others colleagues mainly - not kids. But not much of that has occured.
    - Kids might not show symptoms when sick. But there have not been any signs of kids spreading the disease in any large amount.

    What a fucking moron.
"We can't tell if kids are sick, but we assume they aren't spreading it anyways."

    Moronic.

I would think he (and his colleagues) is more educated in the field. than you are. So his statements should by that token be more educated also.

    Thank you.
You might have a point if he wasn't at odds with common sense and the consensus of the rest of the scientific community of the entire world lol
So then, lets look at your point --

You are saying that Anthony Fauci and his Raspy Common Sense Rascals, if they came over here to Sweden would find

    1) Huge outbreaks at schools, that has been somehow missed by the Swedish Public Health Agency?
    2) A huge problem with kids bringing corona back home from school completely vaporizing families and communities, that has been missed by the Swedish Public Health Agency?

Are you saying that the rest of the scientific community would find all of these cases, that's not been picked up by the PHA?

On a per capita basis, being 33 times smaller than the US, Sweden has the equivalent of nearly 400,000 cases. Does Sweden have the immigrant communities like we have in the US that enhances spread?
The coronavirus continues to harvest lives around the globe and from country to country reports of deaths in the hundreds and thousands. Sweden has a relatively high death rate per capita compared to other countries, but this can partly be explained by the way statistics are used in Sweden, according to Tegnell.

    - Now we have many cases in Sweden you should not deny it and it is very unfortunate. But yes, our statistics are precise, it's hard to imagine that you can be better at finding the cases than we are in Sweden, he says.

In Sweden, it is possible to follow individuals using social security numbers. People diagnosed with covid-19 can be run against the death register, and if they show up there checks are made with the country's regions to ensure that the cause of death is just covid-19.

    - So we have a great track record and are probably more realistic, and are more likely to have higher numbers than most other countries for that reason.

    /.../

Because the methods of keeping statistics are so different, it can be problematic to compare death rates in different countries.

    - Yes, of course it will be troublesome. Especially because you have so much focus on the death toll. I think it's much more complex when discussing the effect this pandemic has on different countries, says Tegnell.

He believes that the number of people who need intensive care and the effects on society at large must also be taken into account to see which countries have been affected most by the pandemic.

    - For some reason, it is the death toll we have as as metrics to compare and it is very one-eyed, a very one-sided way of looking at the pandemic.

F that.  Can't freeze the economy forever, but to open the flood gates too soon would be catastrophic.  IL won't be lifting the shelter in place order on April 30; that much is for sure.

Not “blaming” them. But Even gov Cuomo said that’s why NYC spread so fast. Immigrant communities means more travel. More travel means faster spread. There’s nothing wrong with saying that.  That’s nothing against immigrants and immigrant communities. Just facts.

Despite Prince and pjl’s objections, Sweden’s population is 33 times smaller than the US. Apply that factor to the Number of cases in Sweden and you get a huge number.

As far as “statistics being precise” that’s impossible with this virus. People overcome symptoms and test positive for six weeks afterwards. Are they still contagious? If so that would blow the “herd mentality” hypothesis to smithereens. As a neighbor, Mr McGruff approves.

Oh right.  Like all those immigrants on spring break in Florida.  And taking cruises.

Just bc Cuomo said it didn't make it true.  I'd like to see some hard data on this.

^^^I think it partly has to do with closer knit communities. Wasn’t a part of Italy’s issue the fact that  many households are multiple generations? Living in a small town, while not  the same, I can see how this could take root in a typically more isolated community and really wreck shit.

So you don’t think that makes sense? That more travel allowed it to spread faster? Seems very logical to me. Especially since they think NY came directly from Europe. And it’s not racist or mean to say more travel = more spread. It’s okay to say increases travel will increase the rate of spread.

what does cruise ships have to do with it? there is a lot of travel involved in a cruise though so I have no idea what you meant by that. Kinda supports what I said.

Florida was a bunch of spring breakers acting like idiots. But even that hotspot doesn’t come close to NY, who last week  accounts for something like 40% of cases and deaths.

That's obviously because there aren't any immigrants in San Francisco.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time. People know themselves much better than you do. That's why it's important to stop expecting them to be something other than who they are.

Obvious facts? Accepted by many?  Did you go to the tRUmp school of speech writing?

"Many people are saying I have the best facts. Nobody knew these facts before me.  Now we know, because it's obvious!"

Sorry, I thought New York being the most visited and traveled to city in the country and being a fashion capital that requires a lot more international travel was an obvious fact.

Ok, blaming Donna Karan was a weird turn....

What does that have to do with blaming immigrants though?

I didn’t know if that was a joke or not. Either way I had to look up who Donna was.

I'm in an agricultural area so outside of the school systems, the majority of industry is running and has been running as it falls under essential.  People seem to be adapting to the new rules of conduct at work.  Points of cross contamination at work are identified and a solution is engineered to avoid germ spread.  People go home after work.  No one is socializing.  One case reported in our county to date.

Wow- none!  Fantastic!  That's the first county I've heard of with none.  I hope it stay that way for y'all.
