I'm just watching the replay ... I read there was some controversy about Ferrari pitting (boxing? )  ... Leclerc actually had a 0.6 sec advantage in the pits over Vettel.  Leclerc needs to learn that racing sometimes involves actual racing and not trying to be a video game sim clockwork.  Vettel earned that win.

I think there are a few unverified quotes or stats out there, like they asked Leclerc if he wanted to pit and he said no, so they brought Seb in, etc.
Either way, Leclerc will be fine, team will be fine for next race.  Great drive from Vettel.

Strange race for sure.  Love the setting even though the number of safety cars was ridiculous!  Great to see more competition at the front.

I was starting to think we would see a Singapore GP without a safety car, too...

Meh, here is my beef. The top 6 cars are driving slow to conserve their tires and nobody from 6th back can catch them! Needs to be more competitive throughout the field. Or have tiers. Really Williams has no business being in F1 at this point
maybe bring back refueling and different tire manufacturers and reduce the communication from the pits and put more of an onus on the driver

It appears that Mercedes has both the engineering advantage and common sense advantage over Ferrari.  Maybe Ferrari should focus on having their drivers racing instead of whatever backwards psychology they are cooking up.

  • It's comical. Ferrari got exactly what they deserved.

Well, that's a little extreme, but trying to stick to a strategy instead of evolving it with the race was rather daft.

Italian confusion versus German precision.  Leclerc is a rookie and needs to keep his mouth shut. Vettel is a four time world champion. He should not have to concede anything to Leclerc if he is ahead fair and square. The kid is fast but show some class.

Typhoon headed for Japan over the weekend.  Not good for the Grand Prix.

Have a good time?  Did you get a good view of Magnusson's brake disc popping?

Roger Penske is buying Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indycar series.  Could mean a return of F1 in the distant future.  Indy will be in good hands.  It will be interesting to see if he starts dumping money into the track.

Possibly, but Texas is re surfacing their track this winter and Miami is still rumoured to get a race in the near future.
Would be interesting to see an American driver return

It was an amazing weekend.  And then Alain Prost sat down next to me on the plane back to New York.  No Shit.
Chase Carey wants 25 races a year. Entirely possible that more US races will be scheduled.

Went back and re watched the last 20 laps

feel bad for Albon, Lewis owned up to the mistake, would have probably passed him anyway

Seb is still a D bag!!!!!!

Good to see a mix up in the results, hopefully a trend in the coming years with the new rule changes

congratulations on your first podium Gasly

Tremendous race. Ferrari can not get out of their own way. What a story for Honda.  Amazing.

I would veto this transfer if I was Ferrari's boss. There are so many talented young drivers out there. Agree with the Wolff veto though.
