    In the mafia, there is a name for what Pence and Barr did


    As a federal organized crime prosecutor, I learned that the mafia uses a practice known as "kicking up" or "paying tribute" to the boss. Essentially, all members of a mafia family must make sure that some of their earnings end up in the boss' pocket. From the member's point of view, "kicking up" is a way to show respect, curry favor, and reinforce the hierarchical power structure. From the boss's point of view, it's a way to get rich.

    The "kicking up" model works well for the mafia, and now a political version of it seems to be catching on within the Trump administration. Vice President Mike Pence has decided to stay at Trump's golf resort in Doonbeg, Ireland, during an official visit to Dublin (over a one-hour flight away, so not particularly close or convenient). On Tuesday, Pence's chief of staff remarked that the decision was made on Trump's suggestion. The Vice President's office later stated, "at no time did the President direct our office to stay at his Doonbeg resort."

    That's called a "combi unit".  That's not a toilet, that's the sink.  The water lines are completely separate from each other.  You don't piss in that sink you piss in the toilet part.

    Dude actually says in the tweet that is copied to that tweet that he indeed drank out of the water fountain and not the toilet.

    Again I mus be missing something because that text says he drank from the fountain part.

    The question I have now, is whether the accusation that people drank from the toilet is a misrepresentation because it's a combi, as you say.  
    Combi is a typical toilet in a prison cell.  They are all the same.  I built about 30,000 cells during my time in the industry.

    I'm curious to what the misinterpretation is or if the fountain on the combi was broke?

    I always gathered that it was a bit of both, that SOME of the combi fountains were broken, and some of the detainees had to drink out of the toilet bowl, and that is what AOC was highlighting, and when pictures of the combi were posted online, the right tried to paint it as AOC saying everyone had to drink out of the bowl as no fountain was available. 

    yes, I'm going to say it: BOTH SIDES are to blame for the misunderstanding, if my summary is indeed correct. I don't know for sure.

    I'll add more to this.  There is no faucet to "open".  It works off of a push button system.  Push button and water comes out.  It is rare for them to break and even more rare for both sides to break.  Like, really rare.

    I have no idea who is right or is misrepresenting here I am just pointing out what I know about a stupid prison combi toilet.
