I enjoyed the vibe at Wrigley/Wrigleyville far more than the United Center.
    Wrigley in 2013 was magical.
So good.  Even with the storm it was magical.

That “magical” vibe is not going to be there much longer. The ballpark shows are getting played out. There’s almost no good seats in a ballpark and the constant threat of bad weather isn’t fun either. Just to bring up a few negatives.

I’ve tried not to post here because I don’t want to say anything bad. My feelings with the band right now are very negative.

I don’t think a Non-Wrigley Chicago show will ever happen again unless it’s a Lolla show on an off year
    Agreed.

The unpredictability of the weather is a major downside to the outdoor shows.  Especially with people traveling for the shows.

But... I think we on the boards are in the minority of fans and the main stream fan who sees them once every couple
of years probably loves the ballpark shows.

    I prefer arena shows,
but honestly don't mind the ballpark shows either.
The Seattle Home Shows were INCREDIBLE!!
    Ironically...
the only shows that I've had tickets for that were canceled or postponed were arena shows.
    Raleigh & Toronto 2 in 2016 & London 2 in 2018.

Big or small, it does not matter to me. I just want to hear Pearl Jam play music. I've had an amazing time at the ballpark shows. I think band puts a little more effort into making them special.

    No way
Sorry but an arena vs stadium is no contest.
I’m there for the music and an arena is 10 million times better than a stadium.

We were specifically talking about the vibe in Wrigleyville. The pre parties and gatherings in Weigleyville have been second to none compared to any arena show I have attended in any city. Don't get me wrong, I agree that the arena shows are always going to have more of an intimate feel and setting. But I have had a blast in the stadium shows as well. Wrigley for me will most certainly be some of the most memorable shows I have attended. I am not one who believes we have seen the end of arena shows, I believe we will see plenty more again in the future tours, however I have never been one to complain where this band decides to play. Arena, amphitheater, stadium, etc... Doesn't really matter to me, let's just get some shows scheduled.

At this point , they could play one show a year at a huge venue and it will sell out just so we can get our fix.

It is not only the lack of touring or the absence of new music that is maddening, but the unwillingness to communicate anything to us.

Yes, for those who defend the band at every possible juncture, I understand they do not OWE us that. Except that in my opinion, they kind of do.

It would simply be a kind gesture to let the diehards know. A simple "taking 6 months, 1 year or 2 year break, see you soon" message would be great. Instead: crickets. Truthfully, at this point it really strikes me as quite rude.

But they’ve never communicated well.  They only release info when they have something to report.  It would be nice if they gave us some hints or an idea of when we could expect a new album.  It’s frustrating but that’s how it’s always been since the rumor pit went away.

True but I'd say since 2019 is a "forthcoming year" this is perhaps the one time  in their recent career that perhaps fans deserve better communication

I agree we deserve better.  Just being practical and suggesting that we set our expectations appropriately based on past behavior.

That would be a big announcement for a band of their caliber and history to make. They may not see the situation that way. The best way to ride out these periods of inactivity as a fan is to diversify your interests. Especially if you're taking the inactivity of a rock band personally.
