I’m with you with regards to revising the 2nd. I just think celebrating the 9-11 incident isn’t practicing free speech as much as it is practicing hatred- perhaps even promoting or inciting more violence through approval.

Practicing hatred is legal (unless it's slander or libel, which this case isn't). Inciting violence is illegal, but inciting implies that you're doing something to actively pursue violence, not just that people approve of your hatred (which isn't in your hands just because you screamed into the ether). Ok, if we're going to go that route, then how about a presidential nominee declaring they can kill people in the streets without repercussion or actively promoting violence against others. Which is worse, some "enemies of the US" who are dancing in the street at the deaths of thousands of Americans (disgusting behavior, but not illegal) or someone who is a leader of that country soliciting and promoting violence? I'm pretty sure I've seen you post your approval of the recent claims ISIS has been defeated and while you aren't dancing in the street about it, you are glad because you consider them your enemy. Do you understand that several foreign groups consider the US their enemy because of our continued military interventions and murder of innocent civilians for decades? It sucks to admit, but for all the white knight bullshit, this country is not perfect and is in no place to take moral high ground when it comes to violence against others. Make no mistake, I think anyone who celebrates senseless violence is a piece of shit, but that doesn't mean someone gets to kick their ass or throw them in jail when they disagree with why they are celebrating. I'd want to kill the person or anyone involved in any act of violence against my children and several would support it because we all have drawn a line in the sand at what we find acceptable. Upholding the law doesn't necessarily mean agreeing with it. Until 1A is amended to exclude symbols/symbolism of hatred, we cannot jail people for such. That is exactly what 1A is protecting. Whether it's muslims cheering on terrorist attacks, Nazis marching in streets hailing Hitler, a redneck flying a Confederate flag & yelling racial slurs at black people, or Fred Phelps spreading his filth at a gay veteran's funeral.
