Donald Trump is a disgraceful, disgusting human that is trying to turn his presidency into a dictatorship.0

He is meeting with Kanye West today.
To which I say, "Shut up and sing."

Trump hints at having a president for life in the US. If ANY president (not just Obama, or Clinton but even Bush, Bush, or Reagan) had said something like this, American conservatives would have lost their collective mind.

I'm really quite bummed that we finally got a "business person" who was not a career politician in a high office and this is the one we chose. He is not a true business person (Daddy's $ and no board or shareholders to hold him accountable) and he is slimier and more of a liar than the career politicians...which is really hard to do.Gern Blansten said:I can't get over what a piece of shit tRump is. Quid pro quo for Team Trump Treason moving the embassy to Jerusalem? Team Mueller’s enquiring minds want to know. Aweful lot of money to follow, from Russia with love and a PTape, all the way to impeachment. You don’t think Team Trump Treason does anything out of the goodness of his heart, now do you?

Not all of them. But there are lots of very intelligent great leaders in industry. It would be refreshing to see that, the best versions of that, playing out in our government where it fits. The biggest difference in my mind is it doesn’t appear that government (congress especially) has any sense of urgency. They never really have deadlines. This could be better.Gern Blansten said:

Oh and this doesn’t actually address my point. My point wasn’t that all business people are better than politicians. Just that I’m pissed that this fake business person may have ruined it for others who could actually do a good job.Post edited by cincybearcat onhippiemom = goodness0 -

I cringe every time someone says "government needs to run more like a business." I've worked for a few entities and the one that ran most like a business is the one that would piss righties (and some lefties, including me) most. It ran like a business...which meant that it grew. They were excellent at finding funds and expanding from their original purpose. They are two different things. I don't think that means a successful businessperson would not be able to be successful, but they are two different things.Halifax2TheMax said:

(obviously, as a primarily public employee, I also don't buy the conventional wisdom of "government employees bad; private employees good." That puts me in the minority, I suppose. But in any case, sometimes it seems like "...needs to run more like a business" is just something we say without really thinking about what that means.)1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

I get the theory but I don't think Graham would say that if he were considering it.I think he will say that until he loses the election. It would be stupid of him to say he's considering a cabinet position before the midterms.I fully expect Graham to become AG... Which is fucking horrifying. But we shall see. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0
