The
Trump Organization did not respond to questions about the property, but
Eric Trump, who is managing the company with Donald Trump Jr. while
their father is in the White House, told the Real Deal Los Angeles
website that “given my father’s presidency and our hectic schedules,
our family has not had the chance to enjoy the property in recent years
and it has seen minimal use. As such, it simply made sense to sell.”
News of the sale was first reported by the Real Deal site.
Trump
bought the property, at 809 North Canon Drive, for $7 million in 2007,
according to L.A. County land records. The county assessed the property
last year at $8.3 million.
From
before he was president, Trump did not appear to use the house
frequently — even when he visited Los Angeles. In those instances, he
often stayed at the nearby Beverly Hills Hotel. The house did not appear
to be rented out: in his financial disclosures, Trump said he never
received income from it. Property taxes were $96,000 per year, L.A.
County records show.
Trump briefly owned a
second house on the same block, selling that property for $10.3 million
in 2008, according to public records.
Trump still owns a golf club in nearby Rancho Palos Verdes.
His
business dealings are drawing intense scrutiny from Democratic
lawmakers and government ethics experts who say there is no effective
check on people who would seek influence with the White House by
spending money on Trump’s real estate.
Trump
has sold other properties since entering office, including a warehouse
in South Carolina, land in the Dominican Republic and condos in his Las
Vegas hotel, according to his government disclosure forms and public
records.
The
U.S. Constitution bars the president from receiving gifts or payments
from foreign leaders. Trump is fighting two federal lawsuits that claim
he is running afoul of that prohibition by accepting business from
foreign dignitaries at his hotels.
The
$13.5 million sale price of the Beverly Hills mansion is likely to
exacerbate ethics concerns. The property was sold off-market — meaning
it was not listed for sale publicly — and Beverly Hills real estate
experts said they were surprised at the high price.
The
median home value in Beverly Hills has gone up from $2.3 million in
early 2007 to $3.5 million this year, a 52 percent increase, according
to analysis from Zillow. Trump sold his home for 93 percent more than he
paid for it in 2007.
Trump “got a really good price,” said Luis Pezzini, the chief executive of Pezzini Luxury Homes in West Hollywood.
“Seems
a little rich, to be perfectly frank,” Pezzini said. “Unless there’s
something spectacular about this [house] that I’m missing.”
Pezzini
said he had a listing nearby with a larger home and lot size — as well
as a tennis court — and expected to get slightly less than the $13.5
million Trump received.
Tanoesoedibjo’s main
business is media, as his MNC Group in Indonesia owns television
stations and broadband businesses, but he also has finance and natural
resources companies.
He and the Trump family
know each other well, and beginning in 2015, he signed deals to partner
with Trump on the two enormous projects in West Java and Bali, where he
owns land.
Tanoesoedibjo attended Trump’s inauguration, posing
for photos with Eric and Lara Trump at Trump’s D.C. hotel the day after
the inauguration. He has said he has considered running for president
in his country, with Trump as an inspiration.
He bought it for 7mil in 07 and sold it for 13mil 12 years later? Oh the horror.

Homes in Beverly hills have always been expensive. Here is some listed at well over 13 mil.
The Trump administration is holding migrant kids in a former internment camp for Japanese Americans
The Trump administration has decided that an Army base in Oklahoma is the perfect place to hold the growing number of immigrant children it is keeping in custody, despite some incredible symbolism that would have others thinking twice. The Army base, Fort Sill, was once used as an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II.
Now Fort Sill will be used “as a temporary emergency influx shelter” for about 1,400 children. They will be detained there until they can be given to an adult relative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said, as Time reported. The Trump administration recently cut funding for English lessons, soccer games, legal aid, and other forms of entertainment and education for the children being held against their will in these camps, meaning the children will have very little to keep them occupied.

So Trump knew the guy and he bought his house? I don't get it?
If "some" people did it, fine
If you did it "some"times, fine.
If "some"one other than the president did it, fine.
But the requirements of the presidency are different. Read the effing constitution.
Was it Trump or his company that sold it?
I thought I read in the story that the Trump Organization sold it?
Where in the constitution does it say that a company can't sell it's property?
This is a stretch at trying to find something that isn't.
I think the implication is the appearance of impropriety that a ranking member of a foreign government pays above market value for something to the organization owned in full, by the family of the president; of which the president was the CEO until the day he took office, and will become CEO again the day he leaves office. And if anyone truly thinks that Eric Trump is running the Trump company without the hand of his father on it, then that person is a sucker.
I didn't read the article, but I've seen this movie before. If my presumptions are wrong, then flay me.
This aren't going so good with Trump vs Iran at the moment. Of course Trump is lying his stupid face off and/or getting everything wrong, and this is increasing tensions way too much... Obviously the religiously fanatic Iranians are far more reasonable than the President of the United States of America is (for real, and I can't believe I just typed that), so hopefully they are still willing to just blow off Trump's bullshit until he's out of office rather than take the bait. But if Trump starts ramping up further, they may have no choice but to respond for real.

Why should Iran trust the US and especially after Team Trump Treason jettisoned the nuclear deal? Jared Dear Boy is "in their pocket."

Nobody should trust the US. At all. Not even a little bit. I'd be more inclined to trust Russia or any rogue nation over the US right now. I'm just hoping that they are willing to sit back and wait until the insane moron is out of the White House, since dealing with the US right now is like dealing with a mental patient. That would show great restraint on Iran's part.

Does anyone here think Team Trump Treason will condemn this hate speech? Ahh, religion, so tolerant. What’s next? Tossing them from rooftops? Or how long before he’s found tapping his feet in an airport men’s room?

Just another so-called " christian" preaching a rhetoric based on fear, hate, ignorance, jealousy, and lies. Special place reserved in hell for people like that. Or a job in the current white house.

The greatest country on earth, that has ever existed, doesn’t have money for ESL classes or “futbol” for migrant kids but you know, Air Force One sure would look nice if it were repainted red, white and blue in Team Trump Treason’s color scheme. And nobody bats an eye. Plus, we have Melania T. Kinda like Eva B., I guess. SUCKERS.

In any case, it still breaks the ethical guidelines. Forensic psychiatry/psychology operates under these guidelines as well.

I don't think it advances the dialogue at all, and that any professional should shy away from making such an assessment. It's inherently uninformed.
