I don't recall seeing this article on the boards but if it's already been posted my apologies.
I know that the conversation about parallels between Nazi Germany and the current direction under Trump have come up in the past. It seems that some dismiss out of hand that there is any parallel usually because the end direction won't be the same, i.e. the Holocaust. I found this article by Dr. Christopher Browning, one of the preeminent Holocaust historians, to be interesting. It is important to note, that he makes a distinction in regards to where our country is heading versus the direction taken by Nazi Germany:

I think the Democrats would have been successful if they let the Republicans rush to a vote before they had a chance to catch their wind instead of trying to delay the vote past the November elections. GOP were like a boxer that got rocked but made it to the end of the 5th round by clinching. Dems were throwing the wild uppercuts while GOP worked the body and won the decision.

I find these past days very difficult. And tonight was like a dagger in an already angry heart. I especially find it difficult to have another woman spew Trump's garbage at me. That said, it's best for me to not comment further since I am so emotional. This is truly a very painful moment for a lot of women, and men. Maybe it's just that I"m silly & confused. GOP were like a boxer that got rocked but made it to the end of the 5th round by clinching. Dems were throwing the wild uppercuts while GOP worked the body and won the decision.
Hindsight is 20/20. I probably would have used the delay strategy as well.

Dems lost about 1 or 2% on the chance of flipping the house. My guess is that they’ll make this up and then some in the next couple weeks. Swing voters don’t like the attacking of victims and republicans can’t seem to stop. Their echo chamber is telling them it’s a good strategy.BS44325 said:
