I just don't see anyway PJ has the national popularity to ever be considered for this.  Maybe they would be a special guest if the Super Bowl was ever held in Seattle.

The Killers are nowhere near big enough to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show. They have two platinum albums, including one multiplatinum albums.

Usher has five platinum albums, incluing three that sold between 4.5 and 10 million copies. He has also had nine number one songs on the Hot 100.

disagree!  They could do a 12 minute set worth of music that can stand up with anyones.

That's beside the point. It's not a question of quality; it's a question of popularity. They're a band that had one decently big album 20 years ago. They would be by far the least successful act to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 25 years.

I can't imagine Imagine Dragons not being a part of this craptacular event.

That surprises me with Usher. I can't name one of his songs. I had no clue he has sold that many albums :o

The nine number ones is a lot, too. There are only eleven artists with more than that, and they're all huge stars (Beatles, Mariah, Elvis, Rihanna, MJ, Drake, Supremes, Madonna, Whitney, Stevie, Janet).

  • I think the NFL goes by the model that the musical talent pays to play halftime for the exposure.  If so I really don’t think we are ever going to see PJ do that, and I don’t blame them.

Hasn’t been a rock band in years that played all by themselves. They only do crossover hip-hop, rap, and I doubt they’re changing. The shows have been only entertaining in the absolute horribleness and cringe worthy Ness sadly, the only rock ‘n’ roll band playing this show anytime soon and my guess would be the Foo Fighters

Most of this I agree with. But the one in L.A. with all the rappers was quite good compared to some of the others before and since.
And because Roc Nation handles the halftime shows it is not likely we see a rock band anytime soon.

The last rock band to headline was Coldplay in 2016. There have been plenty of non-hip-hop pop acts since then: Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd and Rihanna.

This is a very tough gig to pull off. Prince set the bar. Bruno Mars was pretty great. If they had him perform every year at the Super Bowl and the Grammys, I'd be happy. Shakira and J. Lo were surprisingly entertaining. The Dr. Dre/Snoop/Eminem hip-hop all-stars was pretty good.

Eminem is pretty much the only old white guy to headline since The Who in 2010, and he might be the last one for a while. (And, yes, as depressing as it is to think about for a fellow child of the mid-'70s, Eminem is 50 years old. I'd like to pretend that is not old, but the median age in the U.S. is 38 so I can't.)

EDIT: By the way, unless he doesn't want to do it, you can pretty much bank on Drake headlining within the next few years. What a snoozefest that will be.

Why wouldn't it be cringeworthy with a rockband up there fakeplaying their instruments?

I never saw anyone describing the Eminem/Dr Dre/Snoop/Mary j Blige/50 Cent thing as cringey. Nor Rihanna.

i imagine you are very, very alone in your corner on this.
