    Hugh, I'd like to hope people would use the day to maybe educate their children and reflect a little about how good most of us have it, especially compared to the true owners of this country...but I believe most will shop on this day...unfortunately.

    Sweet. Honestly, my first thought was about getting another day off work.
    But it is a good idea to have a stat that's related to First Nations. Hopefully it will spurn events that bring awareness and stuff. I'm sure it likely will.

    To fix our First Nations issues, why do we not move away from the reserve system thats in place.  Grant First Nations and Metis people's the same rights that they get on the reserves, no matter where they choose to live...at least give them the option.

    It's extremely problematic to have different laws for different people in a country - it amounts to having 2 different classes of people under the law. There is a very good reason for those rights to be restricted to the reservations, and I completely agree with that reason.

    I don't favour blanket cop haters at all, but come on.... It's not like everyone is obligated to like every cop on the face of the planet. TalonTedd very well may have legit reasons to feel animosity towards his neighbor who is also a cop. The guy might be a prick who tries to pull cop rank on his neighbors or something, who knows. He also isn't a fan of conservatives. Notice that he qualified his description of him... If he wasn't a cop, maybe he would have made the same comment without the word cop included. Perhaps that the conservative neighbor he clearly doesn't like is also a cop just adds some irony... or stick-it-to-him-ness. If the cop neighbor were a good guy in his mind, cop or not, TalonTedd would likely never have had the thought enter his mind.
