How did this question even occur to you when reading that article?
I have a lot of thoughts related to homophobia after reading that (I find homophobia extremely upsetting), but there is no link to sexism or racism in that article as far as I can tell, so I don't understand why, of all questions that could be asked, you asked the one that you did. :
FWIW, the quotes about how a part of "straightness" involves viewing homosexual sex as gross really piss me off.... 1) that isn't true for many, many non-homophobic straight people in any case, and 2) I'd like to meet a straight man who says he's not turned on by some girl-on-girl action and who thinks all homosexual action is "gross" and first call him a liar for saying he doesn't get turned on from girl-on-girl action and then throw his hypocrisy in his bigoted face.
PS - Brokeback Mountain is a cinematic masterpiece IMO
I was referring to a phase that was popular a year or so ago. It only lasted for a few months but it went like this; whenever someone was critical of a women, they were immediately labeled sexists, whenever someone was critical of a women of color, they were immediately labeled racist and sexist. Im trying to figure out if those at mediate are sexist racist or both since they called out Joy Reids "past" homophobia. Sorry if I confused you, I confuse myself sometimes too.

Well that sounds like a really pointless and troll-like little exercise on your part.

No one buys the hyperbole that ‘whenever someone criticized women, they were labeled sexist’ etc. blah blah blah. It’s just playing victim.

    Unfuckingbelievable.

Yup. That’s true. I wonder if also part of it was 2 males joining the group late. I mean we’ve let guys get away with a lot and it’s finally being highlighted as the awful behavior it is.

I don't know why this was surprising to anyone, and, honestly, don't know why it made big news.
    Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the boys. But considering the following;

We live in a society where mass shootings are not rare, this creates the "See something say something" movement.
The boys apparently lacked social norms and appeared odd. They don;t even deny this, they defend it by saying they are "shy."
The parent(s) was convinced they were not part of the tour because they arrived late and apparently did not cooperate with the parents when they became concerned.
I didn't listen to the 911 tape, but nothing from the quotes I read sounded racist. She was convinced they were not part of the tour and was not sure why they were lingering around with such odd behavior.

Now imagine this situation with a different outcome. Imagine they did come to hurt people. How many people would be casting blame on that parent for not saying something? What do you think the outrage would be if the public found out 2 people not part of the tour was following them around with "odd" behavior and something horrible did happen. How often has that been the case ad people cast the blame on witnesses for not speaking up? It happens with nearly every mass shooting. So you have this mother who is convinced these boys do not belong here and are not part of the group. She sees them behaving oddly, they refuse to cooperate with the people in the tour when asked questions. Are you really surprised someone came forward? Do you really blame her? Do you really think it was racially motivated? Ot maybe just paranoid with the violence that is on the news every day?

It seems like the police handed it fine. Asked them just a few questions and let them go on their way.
If we call everyone racists when they report someone with odd behavior, how do we expect them to say something when they see something? We can;t expect them to be right 100% of the time, but everyone sure is willing to blame others when they miss a red flag.

That’s exactly what happened in the San Bernardino shooting. Multiple neighbors said they witnessed suspicious behavior, but were afraid to say anything for fear of being called racist if they were wrong.

Odds are very very very low that the parent would have felt they “didn’t belong” if they were white. We also tell kids they don’t have to answer questions from adults they don’t know that don’t have any business questioning them.

This is straight up racist bullshit.

Yup. The prejudice is that brown skinned people are more prone to violence, which of course will feed the concern. From a cultural standpoint, Native American teens in a very white town away from home aren’t going to jump in and be Tom and Jimmy social with people they don’t know.

A very Team Trumpian Treason explanation.
What does Trump have to do with this story? Profiling has existing a very long time if you think that’s what happened. Happened when Obama was in office and pretty much every president before him.
And none of that changes the facts of the situation. They showed up late, were believed to not be part of the group, seems like they didn’t cooperate when questioned, and admittedly were acting odd.
Ibsaid infeel bad for them and the situation sucks, But I’m not surprised nor do I think it’s really newsworthy. Had they just provided the same information to the tour group that they gave the police instead of not cooperating with them this would have been avoided.

    Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the boys. But considering the following;

Odds are very very very low that the parent would have felt they “didn’t belong” if they were white. We also tell kids they don’t have to answer questions from adults they don’t know that don’t have any business questioning them.

This is straight up racist bullshit.
Do you have any reason to believe this? Plenty of cops get called for suspicious white people. Do you have any reason to believe this was racially motivated? Other than the fact they weren’t white there was nothing about this story that comes across as targeting minorities. People report white people all the time, shootings have been prevented because of it.

I’m referring to the San Bernardino shooting from 2-3 years go. Multiple neighbors came forward during the investigation and admitted they saw suspicious behavior, but didn’t report it out of fear of being called racist just like what happened to this woman.

Your dismissal of the incident sounded like something Tesm Trump Treason would have said had he been asked to explain it. How often do you get “questioned” by anyone going about your business. And what authority did the women who questioned them have to question them? Their white privilege? Who the fuck were they to question them? What authority did they have?

Listen, I think it sucks what happened. I’m not saying the mom did the right thing.
Im just saying after every shooting you hear everyone say things like “people should have seen something,” or “why didn’t anyone say anything, witnesses say he was acting weird but didn’t do anything.”
But when someone does everyone jumps on them for being racists. We can’t have it both ways.
maybe the mom was racist, maybe she’s a horrible person, I don’t know. But nothing from this story alone tells me that.
There are more explanations than people are racist. We live in a paranoid country fearing the next school shooting. I am very convinced that had she not said something and something bad did happen, far more people would be calling her a coward for not coming forward. But she’s a racist if she does.

Surely there’s some examples of two white dudes hanging out in a Starbucks having the cops called on them?

I had the cops called on me about a year ago. Had a day off work and tried Pokémon Go. Was walking by an elementary school and 2 cops stopped me and questioned me for about 5 minutes, took my info, ran my driver’s license and I went on my way. I was told multiple parents called 911 on me because I was walking by an elementary school while it was getting out that happened to be 5 houses down from where I live.
i didn’t make any complaints, I didn’t care. Concerned parents we’re concerned a 35 year old man was walking down the sidewalk. Whatever, life went on.
Not the first time cops were called on me for something fairly innocent.
my experience with that game was short lived.
