Hillary in her book wonders where were all the women marchers solidarity passion and outrage during the election, I wondered the same.
I wondered too. I guess reality only came crashing in for most of them after the unthinkable happened, I dunno.

    what a shit/piss election!
on one side you have a celebrity game show host and a "dossier" about urine
on the other side you have corruption stumbling and "conspiracies" about feces

I'll buy the book only if Hilliary talks about wtf was going on 1 year ago today.

Huh? We already know what was going on in that video, if that's what you're talking about.

if anyone thought Trump had a chance at winning, people would have come out in droves to vote for HC. when the media reports that trump had an 8% chance of winning, people think "oh well, then I don't need to bother".
This is accurate.  I have said it before, but IMO, if the election were held again on any day since the 'real' election to now, it would probably be a landslide.

this is what happened in the primary vs Obama.
April: no chance of securing nomination
May: hoping for an Obama assassination
    Jun: concedes and endorsed Obama

Indeed. The misogynistic old boys club is still going strong in the US federal government for sure. Actually it's getting worse again, not better, for obvious reasons. Maybe when all those old boys finally die and Gen X and especially Millennials really start taking over things will change. Hopefully. The world would be a much better place if women were a much bigger factor in politics IMO. I'm not saying that female politicians aren't twisted as well - they are. But there is still a difference that they would bring to the table as a comparable group that would be a big improvement over total male domination.

Outside of the old boys club, there's voters who just won't vote for a woman for president.
  • true, but it's the old boys club of thinking.  I know a lady who is close to 90 and she came here in the 1950's from Europe and as nice & independent as she is, she just doesn't think that's a "job for a woman".  My father is the same way, from the south, he is 75yrs old and I know that is his belief.  It's a shame really.  I was born in the wrong time in this life.

The actual number of voters exceed those of Trumps but it was the EC that did her in.  He knew exactly where to campaign, fear is one of the biggest motivators and he said whatever he needed to.  A salesman always knows their target market, where they will sell the most for the highest price.

Yes, them too. Again though, once the younger people come up and start voting while the old war timers and baby boomers are dead, I think things will change.

Disagree. All the challenges and disadvantages female candidates face in this country (and absolutely agreed, there are many, they run deep, and they are all bogus) wouldn't have prevented a better female candidate from defeating Donald Trump in 2016. The Democrats chose to nominate a candidate they knew was the subject of an active FBI investigation. It cannot be overstated how reckless that decision was. If Nate Silver is right and it was Comey who tipped the election, that decision looks even worse. The other baggage, not the gender, led to Hillary Clinton's defeat. Almost anyone else, male or female, would have beaten Donald Trump. I firmly believe that.

Put a worthy candidate up for election and that may change. Don't mean to generalize, but it's how I feel sometimes.  Trump is, was and always will be a terrible president on record.  But that woman in the videos up above was not presidential material either.  Just because she was a woman shouldn't automatically make her a good candidate for women.

Of course, but it's all about numbers/voter turnout. Right now the baby boomer votes are so numerous and so many of them vote compared to younger generations (Gen Xers are shitheads when it comes to going to the polls), so the the baby boomers make that huge a difference. Once they're gone, things will turn despite the assholes from our own generation. Though newer immigrant voters will also be a big factor going forward... but they are largely younger too, and I think younger generally = better in this context. I hope so anyway! Of course this all also depends on women actually getting into politics.... It's not an appealing prospect for most women because the men before them have turned it into such a fucking man-dominated, aggressive, dick measuring shit show. Most of the women getting into politics are pigs now, because they are the only ones who can tolerate the systemic bullshit men have built. I think THAT is the difficult part, looking forward, not the voters.

I agree with this also. It would take a very solid (x2) woman running against a sketchy male candidate to win. Again it would have to do with turnout.

That is not accurate. Taking responsibility for gifting the other campaign by using the word deplorables at some voters is definitely taking personal responsibility. There's likely more like that; we'll have to wait to read it. That guy has blinders on to what he doesn't want to see.

No. The blame rests with Democratic primary voters. That isn't victim blaming because those voters aren't victims. They made a choice and they need to own it. Just like Trump voters and just like third party swing state voters. Playing the victim is not owning anything.

But the false narrative keeps getting played: that trump voters were pushed to vote for him in a reaction to the left. This of course is bullshit. Many were drawn to his message.

Tons were drawn to his message. It will forever be a national embarrassment. I am still stunned that he got the votes he did.

No blame rests on the voter for being able to recognize she was being slandered?

Victim blaming at it's finest, folks!

I agree. I think this false narrative keeps getting played because the Trump voters are now just feeling defensive and need some excuse other than "I'm a fucking stupid asshole". Stupid assholes never admit they're stupid assholes. They blame everything bad they do on others.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata
