Relief efforts will need to continue for some time. Things to be concerned about in the coming weeks and months:
http://www.motherjones.com/environment/2017/08/if-things-werent-already-bad-enough-houston-is-about-to-face-a-public-health-nightmare/
"If Things Weren't Already Bad Enough,Houston is About to Face a Public Health Nightmare""In the coming weeks and even months, residents of Houston and other parts of southern Texas hit hard by Hurricane Harvey will be faced with the public health disasters that can result from dirty floodwater and landslides. The natural disaster has ostensibly turned the city into a sprawling, pathogen-infested swamp.
Up to 25 inches of rain have already accumulated in two days. Rains are expected to continue until Wednesday night, and by the end, Harvey will have dumped 40 to 50 inches on the metropolitan area. Heavy precipitation is turning entire neighborhoods into contaminated and potentially toxic rivers. For many of the city’s residents, contact with floodwater is unavoidable, putting them at risk for diarrhea-causing bacterial infections, Legionnaires’ disease and mosquito-borne viruses."
"Harvey Danger: Major Chemical Plant Near Houston Likely to Explode, Facility Owner Warns
One of the world's largest chemical companies warned Wednesday that its flooded plant near Houston will likely catch fire and explode in the next few days — and there's nothing the company can do about it.
Arkema Group's plant in Crosby, Texas — about 20 miles northeast of Houston — was inundated by more than 40 inches of rain by Hurricane Harvey and has been without electricity since Sunday, the company, based in Colombes, France, said in a statement.
The company said it made extensive preparations for Harvey, but "the plant has never experienced flooding of this magnitude before."
The plant manufactures organic peroxides commonly used in everyday products like kitchen countertops, industrial paints, polystyrene cups and plates and PVC piping. The materials must be kept very cool, but refrigerators for the plant's low-temperature containers are out of commission, and backup generators were also swamped, meaning "the potential for a chemical reaction leading to a fire and/or explosion within the site confines is real," the company said"

You know....after dealing with many retail workers over the years, and specifically recently. There are more than a few of them that lack the ability of reasoning. So, I actually believe Best Buy's comment that the employee made a mistake by pricing the water at the per bottle rate. They used the data they had .... which was single bottles. What I'm more impressed with is that they were able to multiply that cost by 24. Of course I'm just assuming they got the math right,JC29856 said:best buy has apologized for selling water for $42

Is he king? Are people not able to decide for themselves what to do? You need a government official to control your life? To tell you what decisions to make or not make? What'd the governor say? Couldn't the governor have declared a mandatory evacuation?unsung said:

doesn't compare to a mayor hours before the storm hits, downplays the severity, warns against overreacting and advises not to evacuate.tempo_n_groove said:

if the"government" can issue emergencys and keep people off the roads, they can issue emergencys and issue people on them.
how people get out is another story but the mayor of Houston should take responsibility for he preparedness warnings.0
