Brian those early DC records are some of my favorites! I have some Rites of Spring records still. I wish I had bought more back then!brianlux said:lolobug, tempo, that friend I mentioned is pretty serious about his record collection. I think even asking him would be like asking a parent if they might consider selling off a kid or two, lol. Not likely! And he's like me in that it's not about collecting them as much as about hearing them and being into analog.
We were talking about back in the day when every neighborhood had a record store. When I was in my teens there were two within short walking distance of my house and maybe 6 or 8 within a 20 minute bike ride. I miss that!
I hear both of ya.Dischord and Subpop are two of my favorite labels along with SST. I am jealous of your friends collection. no telling how much rare stuff he has like the Subpop limited singles, etc. if he has the first pressing of Rites of Spring- holy shit!!! I hated the 80s because I was too young to appreciate it. The underground was amazing but I didn't find out till a whole lot later. way too late to procure all those OGs. livefootsteps.org/user/?usr=446 1995- New Orleans, LA : New Orleans, LA 1996- Charleston, SC 1998- Atlanta, GA: Birmingham, AL: Greenville, SC: Knoxville, TN 2000- Atlanta, GA: New Orleans, LA: Memphis, TN: Nashville, TN 2003- Raleigh, NC: Charlotte, NC: Atlanta, GA 2004- Asheville, NC (hometown show) 2006- Cincinnati, OH 2008- Columbia, SC 2009- Chicago, IL x 2 / Ed Vedder- Atlanta, GA x 2 2010- Bristow, VA 2011- Alpine Valley, WI (PJ20) x 2 / Ed Vedder- Chicago, IL 2012- Atlanta, GA 2013- Charlotte, NC 2014- Cincinnati, OH 2015- New York, NY 2016- Greenville, SC: Hampton, VA:: Columbia, SC: Raleigh, NC : Lexington, KY: Philly, PA 2: (Wrigley) Chicago, IL x 2 (holy shit): Temple of the Dog- Philly, PA 2017- ED VED- Louisville, KY 2018- Chicago, IL x2, Boston, MA x2 2020- Nashville, TN 2022- Smashville 2023- Austin, TX x2 2024- Baltimore 0

Picked up the 7 'Best of' titles in the American Epic series titles today at Third Man in Nashville. Went ahead and got the limited pressings since they were only available in-store today. Really cool historical pieces of music.

What does everyone use to clean their albums?
The past couple of new albums that have come from Amazon have some kind of film (dirt?) on them.
