I saw them several times years ago and they were great. Even with scofield on two of the shows and with soulive another time. What was painful about it? Maybe just not your cup of tea?tempo_n_groove said:

I just picked up________ on vinyl. Well, actually I just ordered and paid for it because I couldn't get it locally. I am so stoked that when it arrives I will do somersaults and probably injure myself. Picture to follow!

I am not a fan of "off beat jazz". The crowd was full of a bunch of pricks that were too good to move out of the way, so I politely had to move a few of them...RoleModelsinBlood31 said:

So the music is what doesn't do it for me. Drummer holds down a nice beat then keyboardist goes off somewhere, where I don't know, then bassist puts down a nice fat bass line then drummer holding the nice beat hits the symbol off beat and does a fill that's not in beat, then back to the keyboardist who's still going off... It's funny to hear a few in the crowd coo at the messed up drum beat.
 Not my thing at all...
 Is it mostly improv?0

Yeah that's pretty much what it is, it's jazz essentially so they follow a song structure but the structure allows them to go in and out of the form and improv as they see fit. Part jazz, part jam band sort of thing. It's more grounded in jazz though with modern amps and sound pedals which kind of modernize it but if jazz is not your thing then you def wouldn't like it for sure!tempo_n_groove said:

Hey Dr. D, this June record (Kevin Morby) can be swapped out for the Fiona Apple album, FYI.Dr. Delight said:"dude"
No worries at all, thanks for the thought.
I'll see if anyone I know in the U.S who is a member can just buy it for me in the shop now.

It's the only form of music that you can screw up the beat and be praised for it as genius...RoleModelsinBlood31 said:

In case anyone is interested, the Full Moon Fever reissue has now shown up on Amazon.com and .uk, and a few other places. It's starting to look like it's actually happening?mrussel1 said:
Nice! I didn't realize this one was on its way. I have the box set and Full Moon sounds so beautiful. I know every song is an FM staple that's been played a million times, but the songs on that album are so great. It's a must own for sure!PJ_Soul said:
Amazon.ca. And it's cheap as hell. $21 CAD. Am I going to fucked over by an Amazon pre-sale again? Maybe. They do that, and normally I wouldn't order anything on pre-sale from Amazon because they suck at it, but this one took me off guard. They have a release date... we'll see.jazzbo26 said:
..... Dumb that an album can be posted in multiple places and you still can't really know if it's a real sale or not.
Edit: now they've sent me a shipping date estimate, so I guess It's really happening.
