Texted a very good friend at 4:51 AM about it.  His text back was the front of a magazine stating Victim of Death Hoax and had CC's face on it.  "It was on the TV this morning. . . CNN.  AP.  His website won't pull up . . . "  Told him that sadly, I thought it was true.  I was waiting though.  Just like everyone else.  Wanted to have him make some comment about some bullshit death hoax and how he was fine . . . :frowning:
I was actually on my phone looking at twitter around 4am when the news first hit...the initial comments were that it must be a hoax, etc.  They more sources started posting it.....horribly sad.

This one really hurts. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the millions of us who were so lucky to have heard Chis Cornell sing and make music. He was such an amazing talent.

Fucking shitty! Someone so loved and admired was so alone in this world. Nothing could make me any more sad than to hear this confirmed.

Besides the loss of Chris Cornell being so hard, and the almost unimaginable pain of those closest to the man, it is also heavy on the heart to sense the collective pain of such a loss.  The heartache of millions leads the soul to even deeper mourning.

Yah.  It feels different than Kurt Cobain's death.  People were kind of shocked but angry about it at the same time.  Maybe because he was so young.

In my older age it saddens me to think about how depressed/lonely someone must be to be able to do such a thing.    Staying alive is one of the fundamental parts of our brains, and things have to be pretty bleak to be able to override it :(   It's sad knowing people are in these bleak/dark places that they can do what they do :(

I really feel for his band right now. It's easy to start second guessing or thinking about what you could have done. Maybe thinking about all those little signs you picked up on, but brushed off that now are all too clear. So sad and can't imagine what they are all going through as they replay the course of events leading up to this.

Just got TOTD on the go... this verse has just killed me:
    "Don't try to do it
Don't try to kill your time
    You might do it
Then you can't change your mind
You've got a hold on to your time
    Till your break through these
    Times of trouble"

Yeah....and it looks like 911 was called around midnight so it couldn't have been more than an hour or so after the show.  Absolutely tragic.

I'm just fucking gutted this morning. Choking back tears at work, listening to Chris sing in my ears. I feel lucky to have seen him many, many times, in the 90's in Soundgarden, for their reunion show as Nudedragons at the Showbox, a few times after they reunited, Chris solo shows, a few Audioslave shows, and most recently in October with Temple of the Dog. Chris' music has been a big part of the soundtrack of my life, and this is so tragic. He was a beautiful human being with an amazing talent. My heart aches for his family, his band mates, and his millions of fans. He will be missed, but his body of work will live on. RIP Chris.

outside love means nothing when you are suffering with mental illness. everything is superficial.

There is a need for more attention on that part. Just . . . so sad to go in that manner. I really feel for him, my whole heart does.

I love this.  I feel like I need to wear it as a sign at work today.  My heart is so heavy.  To anyone out there that feels hopeless: please, please, please know that it DOES get better.  It CAN get better.  Whatever it is, this, too, shall pass.  And if it feels like it won't, reach out to someone.  Anyone.  And it is a reminder to the rest of us that everyone we see is fighting a battle we know nothing about.  Be kind to each other, Jammers.
