Force Of NatureI've never liked FON, it just doesn't feel like a PJ song to me“Do not postpone happiness”
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
(Tim Rogers)0 -
Supersonic
Does it mean you´re getting it right now? I mean, you don´t want Just Breathe to win?, if that´s the case, I think you´ll be with the mayority here....seanwon said:present tense, light years, i am mine, inside job......
I just want to apologize to everyone.....I have been playing the wrong game all this time. I thought we were supposed to be picking the BEST song from each album, not the worst.....0 -
Johnny Guitar
Neither did I but then I thought I should listen to it before I voted for it (I bet haven't listened to studio Backspacer in at least five years) and it isn't all that bad.goldrush said:I've never liked FON, it just doesn't feel like a PJ song to me0 -
The backspacer tours were fun as hell.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

Gonna See My FriendJohnny Guitar isn't that bad. He's an adult that rides a tricycle, chicks all over him and he used to be a manager in the WWF in the late 80's, only there they referred to him as 'Slick.'Chicago 6/29/98, Alpine Valley(EV) 6/13/99, Alpine Valley 10/08/00, Chicago 10/09/00, Phoenix 10/20/00, Orlando 4/12/03, Tampa 4/13/03, San Diego 6/05/03, Vegas 6/06/03, Phoenix 6/07/03, Chicago 6/18/03, Alpine Valley 6/21/03, Orlando 10/08/04, D.C. 10/11/04, Chicago 5/16/06, Chicago 5/17/06, LA 7/12/08, Chicago 8/23/09, Chicago 8/24/09, LA 10/07/09, San Diego 10/09/09 (Front Row Center, Finally), Phoenix(EV) 11/4/11, Wrigley 7/19/13, Phoenix 11/19/13, Denver 10/22/14, Wrigley 8/20/16, Wrigley 8/22/160

Johnny GuitarWell Speed of Sound has crossed the magic vote threshold for elimination so it is surely gone based on the few voted for any other song besides JG.
This is a good album. Can't believe it's almost been 10 years and that this was only 3 years after self titled. That seemed like forever to wait at the time. It's a hopeless situation...0 -
The Fixer
Right behind Big Wave for me!!Sarava said:I went with the Fixer, which is one of the worst songs PJ has recorded IMO.

Johnny GuitarWill be a sad day if Speed of Sound goes out in the first round.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0

Johnny Guitar
I disagree. Ed has a serious love affair with the Moon and stars, and as someone who shares that love affair, it isn't cringe worthy or corny, it's genuine and beautiful.ledvedderman said:

Unthought known for the win!
"gems and RHINESTONES!!!"
Most cringeworthy lyric in the catalog.
I can see how city folk would feel that way, but get out under a true night sky and listen to that song and you will appreciate that it isn't just something he said, it's something he felt and that you can feel too.Monkey Driven, Call this Living?0 -

Unthought Known
No city folk (probably one of the most rural members on here actually) here and I love the connection Ed has to the stars and nature, It connects to me on every level. But I think that lyric is bad.rgambs said:

Johnny GuitarBackspacer remains my least favorite Pearl Jam release. Two Ed solo songs in Just Breathe and The End, plus Speed of Sound which was better as an Ed solo song than what we got on the record. Johnny Guitar is terrible. The Fixer is forgettable. Unthought Known is one of their most overrated songs, probably because there is so little else to love on this album. Force of Nature, Supersonic, Gonna See My Friends...none of these are songs I hope to see pop up in a setlist.
On the plus side, Amongst The Waves is good and Got Some has grown on me over time. Also, the Backspacer tour shows I saw (Hartford and Boston, 2010) were both gems.

I've always thought of Unthought Known as Wishlist pt. 2... People should be chanting "Let Stone Write.." instead of "Let Stone Sing" at shows.. lol.. Backspacer is good for what it is, but I definitely prefer the songs live vs. the album."It's best to live in grace before you're forced to." EV- 10/09/20140

Force of Nature is the secret best song on the album.JimmyV said:Backspacer remains my least favorite Pearl Jam release.
