    not bad!
  • IMO these guys rarely write a bad song, but I don't think they are the most creative band and that is fine with me. Sometimes less is more.

I think Stereogum's review hit it on the head: "But mostly it sounds like the Kings Of Leon you remember, and your enjoyment will be determined by whether that’s a fond memory or not so much."

As someone who enjoys listening to KoL, I like it. Nothing crazy, but a solid, KoL-sounding rock track that is probably fun to hear live.

  • Every time I turn on this song it immediately sounds like KoL.

But I can't remember the song after it's finished.

My wife enjoys good music, she's been to tons of shows with me, but for some reason she has trouble figuring out whose song it is if I play her a new song. She usually gets it after a verse and a chorus, but even recognizable voices like Cornell she can't always get right away.

Having said that, I played her KOLs new track and, I'm not kidding, 5 seconds into the song (no vocals yet) she says "oh it's Kings of Leon, all their songs sound like this."

I like the track, but it was just amazing how quick she got it with no vocals.

The bass and the guitar at the beginning sounds exactly like another KoL song... something of Come Around Sundown maybe...

I'm like your wife. I'm really bad when it comes to music... I need to get to the lyrics, then it clicks. Even with some PJ songs I'm ashamed to say. But yeah - this sounds as KoL as it could. Haha.

I saw them for the Sex on Fire tour and I wish I saw them earlier on their career.
Little too laid back for me.I still like them but miss the first few albums that would have been sick to see live.

Walls live was quite boring, maybe it's just the video, quality, not a "real" show, etc. Pretty cool that Tim from The Whigs is now playing their background instrumentation, I didn't realize that Coleman is gone?

I've got to say that they have become a very boring live act. No personality live and no enthusiasm. I was lucky enough to see them on tours for their 2nd and 3rd albums and they were excellent live, they played with passion and urgency. Not big communicators with the crowd, but the passion was there to see.
After that, I saw OBTN tour and it seemed to be a chore for them. I still enjoy listening to their new music, but on what I've seen on Youtube over the last 5+ years and their live DVD, I wouldn't spend my money on seeing them live.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me
