In our country, there are multiple mechanisms we have to assist people. It's hard to fail here.

The opportunities that are available to aboriginals are far greater than the rest of Canada: federal disbursements, no taxes, and free post secondary education among them.

The public sector is begging for educated First Nation people to fill cushy jobs, but the voids remain. Our local bands can't find qualified First Nation people to run their offices.

Sometimes people need to help themselves a little. I recognize the problems First Nation peoples have endured, but it's time to get going. The blacks in America had their shackles removed- no compensation, no hand outs... and the country has had a black person as it's president for the last two terms.

^^^ Well don't let the truth get in the way of your bullshit statements. In the USA the African Americans were forced into slavery and taken away from their land. Here in Canada immigrants stole this land from the aboriginals. I believe all those benefits you speak of is small price to pay for taking and occupying lands that never belonged to us and conning the first nations into signing treaties that they barely understood. And not all first nations people's are treated fairly and lot depends on your reserve, not all reserves are equally.

Anyways I've said enough on the topic.

I had mentioned that in the past when posting on American Indian subjects but it was dismissed in large by the train members....in fact there are a lot misconception's and half truth's regarding European explorers and American settlers, discovery and slavery are a few of the subjects that only get half truths in conversations.

The American Indians did clash but not to the extent Europeans have. Some tribes were more war-like and some quite peaceful, but generally their history was much more peaceful than European history by far. Also, American Indian war often were characterized by "counting coup" which involved hitting and enemy with a pole or coup stick and counting that as a "kill" when no actual death occurred. Also, Native Americans did not wipe out other cultures with the spread of disease.

Of course Native Americans were not all perfect and peaceful- they are/were after all, human beings. But to contrast them with Europeans is probably not the best comparison to make.

How on earth did we get to talking about American Indians?

The Aboriginal issue has absolutely nothing to do with the refugee issue though (which is why we're talking about it). It's not like more would have been done had Trudeau not gone about getting all those refugees to safety. The Aboriginal issues is incredibly complicated, and money has very little to nothing to do with those issues at this point. Unbelievable amounts of money have been thrown at the problem, and it hasn't fixed a thing.

Didn't know pm sunny ways was loading refugees onto airplanes. Funny how we are expected to sacrifice or better yet ignore people's who have more than every right to be here...but absolutely must bring in refugees. Are the richest Middle East countries taking in refugees? Saudi Arabia, Quatar, UAE etc.

I thought it was about those "artificial trees" that have been invented. It's some kind of material that absorbs 1000x more CO2 than trees do. There is talk about using this INSTEAD of reducing carbon emissions long term, as though the only negative impact on the environment is the CO2 emissions, which is obviously not the case. The other issue is that these things don't emit oxygen as far as I can tell.
