There was no evidence found that a racial slur was used. No mics picked it up, Heyward didn't hear it.

And the Cards are making an exception for the shirt, but it's a standing rule to keep the ballpark family friendly.

No hypocrisy. I'm sure if anybody heard or seen these things when they were going on they would be escorted from the stadium.

Good series...fared pretty well despite the offense not showing up. Woulda been nice to give Jaime some run support and get 2/3. The next 16(+?) games should be fun.

But who is the "try not to suck" shirt offending? I get if someone finds a cubs suck or cards suck shirt offensive, although im personally not offended. The "try not to suck" shirts are after a phrase Maddon used to Baez in joking with him about his increased playing time. The team loved it and ran with it. Its an internal Cubs thing. How it offends anyone else makes no sense.

I agree it's a dumb rule. I guess they just don't want the word in their park in the way it would be most commonly used. I don't think anyone was offended. An exception had already been made for the next time the Cubs come to town.

I totally see where the Cardinals organization could be offended with the "don't suck" shirts.
    I get it.

That being said, it was nice to take 2 of 3.

I mean, not only does he throw a no-hitter... he goes 2-4 at the plate with a walk & a run scored!

Wow...Arrieta is a beast. I'd hope that his arm falls off, but doubt that would slow him down.

What the hell did he do? He was almost out of the league, right?

Got traded from Baltimore to Chicago. I believe i heard he changed his throwing motion/release spot.

If you look at his pitching in Baltimore, he has a different release point now and he protects the ball in his motion going to the plate. He pulls the ball out then hides it behind his glove before releasing. That's got to be crazy hard to pick up from a batter's perspective. Every pitch looks exactly the same upon release.
Barring injury, this could be a season for the history books for Mr. Arrieta.
Also awesome that he helps on the offensive side too!

Guess Thom Breneman was bitching during the broadcast Fri night when Cubs fans were chanting "lets go cubbies" as the cubs tacked on runs late in fridays big win. STFU! Did he complain last night when reds fans were undoubtedly cheering as they kicked the cubs ass?

After today, the schedule starts to get more interesting. 3 vs. the Pirates, 4 vs. the Nationals...

I am interested to see how this team performs against a much tougher schedule in May.

Home and away vs pit, wsh at home, and road trip to sf and stl. Yeah tuff month indeed. Will be a good early gauge of how good they are.
