  • As a Brit I find it really funny reading bands like Blur and Oasis being lumped in as one hit wonders! Have you guys never heard Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger?! I'm not even a huge fan of the band, but that song is huge in every sense of the word:

Sugar Ray had a handfull of huge songs:
    Fly
    Every Morning
    Someday
    When It's Over
    Falls Apart
Bright eyed kid: "Wow Typo Man, you're the best!"
Typo Man: "Thanks kidz, but remembir, stay in skool!"

and the song that goes hand in hand for whatever reason:

Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now

I'm not sure what year this song came out. It could have been an 80s hit rather than 90s but I thought I'd mention it: Turning Japanese by the Vapours. Unforgettable. ;)

Could be argued against being one hit wonders (I think they had a few albums), but 3 Colours Red - Beautiful Day.
That song was huge for about 20 mins, and although I had that album I don't remember anything else about them.

Could just be my bad memory tho!

That's hilarious! A split second after I finished hearing the chorus to Unbelievable in my head, I thought 'what was that other song? ....oh ya, Jesus Jones'....and then saw your post.
What IS the reason? Prob just cause they were top of the pops at the same time...if I'm not mistaken, Losing MY Religion was also huge at the same time.
  • from 1991- school of fish- 3 strange days. a minor hit, im sure someone remembers it... the whole album is great though!

I dont think Blur qualify as "One Hit Wonders", do they??

Charles & Eddie - Would I Lie To You?
DJ Sash! - Encore Une Fois
    Haddaway - What Is Love?
    Spin Doctors - 2 Princes

Spin Doctors also had a hit with "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong." A much better song, IMO

I think they are both similar songs, from British bands with sort of a poppy-Primal Scream kind of vibe. They're similar songs, stylistically, that were big at the same time.

came across this one last night while watching some old beavis and butthead clips on youtube (and while also looking for more obscure bands form the 90's)

    Stakka Bo- Here We Go
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I5iugfTiIk

actually the main dude,Bo Johan Renck, directed three episodes of Breaking bad and one episode of The Walking Dead. Also directed a few music videos like Chris Cornell's "Can't Change Me" and most recently David Bowie's "Blackstar" and "Lazarus"

and the song that goes hand in hand for whatever reason:

Jesus Jones - Right Here, Right Now

They actually had a lesser hit with Real Real Real. I remember it peaking at 3 on MTV's Top 20. EMF had one at the same time with Lies and that went to number 6. After that, we never heard from them, though.

That's one of my favorites. Mike Edwards wrote some really great lyrics nearly 30 years ago that are still relevant, if not more, today. Very underrated songwriter.

Blessid Union of Souls also had a huge hit with I Believe. Probably a bigger hit than Hey Leonardo, so they aren't a one hit wonder.
