I'm from Boston, so perhaps they got more play there, but, I felt they had more than this ... certainly the Mrs. Robinson cover was big. A few other tunes of It's a Shame About Ray were all over the radio as well, like the title track and Rudderless .... again, folks from other parts of the country should chime in here.gabers wrote:I don't think I've seen any mentions of these:

Big Wreck - The Oaf

I don't know how many "hits" the Lemonheads had because I was in Germany during their heyday, but they're still one of my favorite bands ever. "It's a Shame About Ray" and "Come on Feel the Lemonheads" should be placed in a vault along with the all time greats, IMO.0 -

ooh, it's hurting my heart to see some of my all time favorite bands called one-hit wonders in this thread. please, PLEASE, i hope at least ONE person who reads this checks out at least ONE of these records:
blur - modern life is rubbish, parklife, blur, 13
tripping daisy - jesus hits like the atom bomb, tripping daisy
mazzy star- she hangs brightly, among my swan
the verve - urban hymns, a northern soul
not a complete list for any of these, but a whole shit-ton of great music on each of those albums if you're thinking any of these are one-hit wonders...0 -

Now I'll add Sponge-Plowed to this list.

a few of these bands could be considered 2 hit wonders as well. As far as Blur is concered I only heard 2 radio songs: song 2, and Boys and Girls (Briefly).
Sponge also had a few more hits and I can't remember the song off their new pop sunday album? (That album is now out of print I think. I can't even remember the single from it. They also had a hit with Wax estatic and someone mentioned plowed and then Moly was also a hit in the 90s.
For Mazzy star- the whole album of "so tonight that I might see" is great. Highly recommend.
Someone mentioned smash mouth and "all star" but they also had hits with "walking on the sun", "Can't get enough of you baby", and "then the morning comes."PJ: 10/14/00 06/09/03 10/4/09 11/15/13 11/16/13 10/08/14

point taken, but "one-hit wonder" does have a certain connotation...0 -
Does anyone remember this one?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyO2Gg3QlGQ
I remembered hearing it, and for years, I always wondered who did it. it was on and off the radio in a flash.
It was very Jeff Buckley sounding, but I knew it wasn't him. And because the title was "Alcohol" searching for it was near impossible (there are a lot of songs with alcohol in the title).
Well, last week, I made a determined effort and found it ... I really dig this tune.
Howling Maggie - Alcohol - 1996"You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

The son of Randy:
Tal Bachman - "She's So High"
PBM"We paced ourselves and we didn't rush through it and we tried to be as creative as our collective minds would let us be over some course of time instead of just trying to rush through a record"
