I have a few pistols and shotguns. I live in MA so not all manufacturers are allowed to be sold new. Over the years I have acquired:
    Sig Sauer P220 .45
    Para Ordnance P-10 .45
    Glock 23 .40
    Glock 27 .40
    Ruger Speed Six .357
    S&W Bodyguard .380
    Sig Sauer P230 .380
    S&W Airweight .38
    Mossberg 500 12GA shotgun
    Remington 870 12GA

Great to see a pro gun thread on here after all these years.

Not allowed to be sold new??? What does that mean? Im not familiar with your states laws. Does that mean you can by certain manufactures used??

Yeah, the Attorney General has outlawed certain manufacturers from selling new guns in this state. For instance, Glock can't because it doesn't have an external safety. Also new guns have to have an external indicator that there's a round in the chamber. So Colt, Kimber, Glock and quite a few others can't be sold new. If they were manufactured before 1998 they can be sold because that's when the law went into place.

So can you buy those guns used or can you still buy them new online and have them shipped to your FFL??

You can buy guns used if they were manufactured before 1998. They won't allow me to buy guns from other states and have them shipped if they are not on the MA compliant list. There are plenty of gun manufacturers that are sold in this state but also there are quite a few that are not. It sucks but it is what it is.

About time guns were banned in the USA, sick of seeing news reports here in Australia of mass shootings there.

I can`t wait until swimming is banned in Australia I am so sick of hearing about you getting eaten by sharks....Either admit that you are nothing but food or ban swimming.

I used to have a Remington 870 but I sold it and bought a Benelli. The Benelli is turning out to be unreliable so now I'm looking for something else. I've been considering a semi-auto but I'm not sure I want to abandon the pump actions. Oh well. Time to hit the gun shops.

Your Sig P220 is a solid contender in the .45 ACP world. I think I'd rather have a P220 than a 1911. Maybe someday.

I guess recent proposed gun legislation has freaked people out here in nj; I saw someone buy 3 ar-15's today at a store. I never saw anything like it, people buying 2 and 3 guns at a time. Shotguns, handguns...anything and everything! All I wanted was a ruger 10/22 to shoot with my kids. I guess I'll go to the national chain store to get it since there was zero lines there today.

Did you ever get your 10/22?

  • Shot show currently going on in Vegas. Already have a IWI Tavor but definitely loving the new X95 Tavor. Going to have to start saving up for this one. Anyone else see anything new that caught their eye?

Walther PPS m2 and PPQ Match look pretty sweet. It's a shame that they don't have paddle magazine releases, though.

nah I didn't. I went to an indoor range tonight and fired over 250 rounds out of my 9mm and also shot my .22. My .22 jammed up several times and I was not happy (old remington viper from 1992) When I was done I checked out a few ruger 10/22's...what a gorgeous gun. I definitely have to get one.

I'm in the market for a 10/22 as well. There are so many variations it's almost overwhelming.

I'm looking for a good .22 target pistol, too. Browning Buckmark and Ruger MK III are at the top of my list.

  • you can get a stock 10/22 and customize it however you want. like you said, there are so many accessories and variations, might as well make it how you want it

the 10/22 takedown seems a little pricey and excessive...agree or disagree?

Yeah, the flexibility of the 10/22 makes it great. I just want a bull barrel and capable iron sights......maybe ghost rings. I'll have to see if Ruger has a model like that or if I'll have to buy parts aftermarket.

Pricey for sure. If I was a small game hunter, it might be nice to be able to fit a rifle in a day pack, though.
