Just rediscovered how much i loved ShangriLadeda

I always admitted to being an STP fan from the beginning...it started with PJ, STP and Nirvana for me...but Nirvana lost its staying power after Kurt passed and although STP was come and go after No. 4 I never tried to get into Shangrila-da or their Self-titled...what are they like?

Great great record. I was talking to my wife earlier this week about Scott and STP and she was shocked when I told her that he was, hands down, the best front man that I have ever seen in concert.

Been listening to the last album from STP "self titled" lately… Man, losing Scott fucking sucks. I grew up in the 90's so it's a no brainer all STP was part of my life. This album though, it's so damn good once you finally digest it. I had high hopes for more STP to come, and it would have, those four are STP, nobody else. Such a great album…..

YES!!!! My wife and I scored front row to Velvet Revolver at the Gorge with AIC opening in I think 07. Scott was UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE... We said the same thing at the time, that he might be the best pure frontman of our generation.

I never heard self titled but Shangrila was a really nice album. A lot of melodies. maybe their most different sounding album

Amen to that! I spun it twice today. I love this album, and it's really because of Scott. I dare say that this is Scott at his best. His voice and melodies on this album, amazing! Damn, what a loss! I'm still fucking bummed about this.

I picked up Shangri-la on vinyl...can't wait to spin it beginning to end.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of Core, Purple and Tiny Music...I don't know why I stopped listening...maybe all their hiatuses but nonetheless really looking forward to this album then S/T.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said Friday that the 48-year-old Weiland had cocaine, ethanol and the amphetamine MDA in his system. The medical examiner also noted a history of cardiovascular disease, asthma and multi-substance dependence.

*Ethanol is booze after it's been broken down in the body.

I saw him with the wildabouts just a month after Jeremy had passed. Weiland just looked so out of it. It was very sad to watch that show honestly.

When he was on top of things, he truly was a world class front man. I feel fortunate to have seen STP three times.

I never left one of those shows feeling like I wasted money on the ticket. Scott was a total badass and he totally controlled the crowd.

I spun it a few times this week. I really enjoy it. Cool Kiss might be my favorite off the album

I just ran through Creep, SilverGun, Kitchenware and Still Remains and I must say as I listen to the last one, which has always been a favourite song of mine, the lyrics sound even better today than when I first heard them. I'll mention the bridge of Pruno for good measure as its up next.

I really liked his voice, he made some of the best recorded vocal tracks of all time in my opinion and STP made some amazing music thats worth hearing over and over again. The Christmas one he made is super underrated right now but anyone searching for the man at this best will find a lot of worthy tunes there.

Hard to ay whats so great about the sound of that band, their Self Titled is the best last album of all time. Its as good as any of their other one's, even Tiny Music. I think Maver, First Kiss on Mars and Take a Load Off are three of his best pieces of work. Nova Samba and Cinnamon are also a good pair of songs.

All of 12 Bar except for one or two songs is good and super tasteful.

    His book is perfectly honest.

No Memory, Seven Caged Tigers, Church on Sunday, Atlanta, Bi-Polar Bear, Lounge Fly, Wheres the Man, Desperation 5, Interstate, Ride the Cliche, So I Know, Glide - all great music.

Yea it would... Axl could pull off Sucker Train Blues. I'd also love to see Pearl Jam cover an STP song and a Motorhead song.

I started with STP right along Pearl Jam when I got Core and Ten for Xmas 93 when I was 13. Estranged dad of 22 years wherever you are, thanks, and RIP Weiland and say hi to your heroes Morrison and Bowie.

I'm not surprised he died btw. He just kept screwing up. I once listened to him as a guest DJ on 100.3 FM in Los Angeles months before he died and I could tell in his voice he wasn't happy and was just going through the motions. So tragic.

Almost the same, I had Ten, Core and Nevermind around the same time that forever set my musical taste.

I may have heard that same interview; DJ would perform kind of a get to know Scott Weiland interview with exciting questions like, "where is your favorite place to vacation?!" And in the most monotone of syllables an answer from Scott would follow, "Maui." He truly sounded like a caged animal forced to participate.
