Jenner Woman of the Year

I seen that Jenner was named woman of the year. Does anyone think this is a slap in the face of women? Especially since he has not been a she for more than a year. I would think that the two women who went through Ranger School might have been a better choice or someone who did something more than for a publicity stunt. I know that there are more pressing issues in the world but I wanted to know peoples thoughts. I also posted a reply to the Jenner in AET, but I thought it was more appropriate here.

    I believe it was for a specific category of women, but I don't feel slighted. I mean, I don't get why Reese Witherspoon got an award either.

    Award shit is weird shit.

    And actually, while pondering this before posting, I do disagree with the "hardest part of being a woman" part of her speech. Perhaps said in jest, but really...fuck that.

    I didn't see anything about the speech but then I didn't follow the story. What was her comment on the hardest part of being a woman?

    The hardest part about being a woman is figuring out what to wear. It’s always that way; I never thought it would come to this. I had really no sense of style.

    I'm with hedonist on giving her the award. It doesn't bother me. Unfortunately, so many awards aren't all that meaningful.

    But that comment about the hardest part of being a woman is insulting to other women. How many hardships do women all around the world deal with, and to trivialize it with a statement like that. Like I said, it doesn't even work as a joke.

    And why?

    I don't give two shits whether Bruce wants to be Caitlyn, a gorilla, or an alien- whatever makes him happy, but what about him is award worthy? I would think Joe Blow that doesn't have the fame and support behind him as he surgically changes his gender- punching the clock to sneers and jeers- is more worthy of an award than Bruce.

    Who Princess I can agree I wanted to post it for good debate. Awards are a big love fest for whoever is popular at the time. However the cavalier approach about the toughest thing is non sense. There was a woman recently stoned to death, I believe in Pakistan and this clown says finding cloths is hard. There is another story from a widow from 9/11 her husband received her award for her courageous action that led to her death. He sent the award back after seeing this clown get it.

    It has become clear to me after that hardest thing about being a women comment that a baking sheet has more depth than Caitlyn Jenner.

    More proof that you can change as much as you want on the outside, but you can't change who you are on the inside.

    I'm sure there were at least a thousand more women more deserving of this "award".

    Hold your horses, folks. Who gives out the "Woman of the Year Award"? Glamour, right? OK, so who here really takes seriously what Glamour says about who or whom is or isn't the marvelous woman we know? Don't we all know women who are absolutely marvelous (I sure do) and mean more to us than anything Glamour has to say or not say about them?
