Yeah, no shit that's what they said. I think dignin's comment suggests that that wasn't the REAL reason... and I absolutely, 100% agree. It is laughable that anyone would believe that the Conservative government, of all things, cares about our privacy. You didn't really fall for that line, did you?PJfanwillneverleave1 said:
Actually you are 100% wrong with your reason.dignin said:
Harper cancelled the long form census so he wouldn't have to make decisions based on evidence. Plain and simple.HughFreakingDillon said:so a guy at my work who is upper middle class went off on a tangent again today about Justin bringing back the long form census. He said "I've voted for all parties over the years, I don't care who it is, but if you are spending my money, I don't like it". typical "me me me" nonsense. yeah, cause the census is such an awful thing for the government to do; to gather information about their constituents so they know where the money should be flowing. such a waste of money! all he sees is the dollar signs on it, not the benefit to spending it.
The Conservative government maintains that its reasoning for the cancellation is that they do not believe it is appropriate to force Canadians to divulge detailed personal information under threat of prosecution.

Whether I fell for it or not the reason provided for the cancellation of the long form remains official.0 -
Wed all already knew that. It's an official lie. That was pretty much the whole point behind the comment, no?PJfanwillneverleave1 said:^^^^

Now we can go back to making policy and money decisions based on evidence. Something the conservatives had no interest in....it's all about their ideology and how they think the world should be, not about how the world actually is.
I applaud Trudeau for this decision. Hopefully one of many made to get us back to a society based in reason.

You think that basing things on reason is bleeding heart liberal hope? Holy crap. And you think there is something ridiculous about reasonable expectations ("hope" in your realm, apparently)?
What's going on with you? Serious question. Are you really THAT upset about Harper losing, so you're basically just slapping your hands over your ears and yelling "LALALALALALA!! I'M NOT LISTENING!!"..... Because I'm sorry, but that's how you have been coming off ever since the day after the elections. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. I guess so. I don't have a specific memory of it, but I would never not complete one, so if I got one I completed it.PJfanwillneverleave1 said:^^^

No it wasn't. I actually remember people who refused to do it being chased by cops. it was silly. But yeah, the short form was mandatory (i think it had a voluntary section attached as well though).PJfanwillneverleave1 said:
