Yeah, I don't wtf is up with Townsend. So many people obviously believe him though, including EV. I do find myself thinking that if the man has retained friends like that, then there must be a reason they don't doubt him about the research thing..... maybe there is something we don't know to make it completely reasonable? It totally sounds fishy to me too, but seriously, would Eddie Vedder really ignore it if he didn't have a real reason to?? Or is he just that blinded by idol worship?

Agreed on all points, Thirty. I can't imagine anyone keeping child porn on a personal computer in the name of "research". It has to be either denial, or being blinded by friendship on Ed's part. But I guess we'll never know. I just know that there is no way I would ever want to look at child porn, for any reason, including conducting research or investigations. I don't know how cops and prosecutors offices go through this stuff during collection of evidence or building a case. I'd be scarred for life. Too many things you can't unsee.

And I have absolutely no mercy or compassion available for pedophiles. Whatever happens to Jared at this point will be a fraction of what I think he deserves. I'm not hoping he gets beaten or raped in jail, but I won't feel the slightest bit of compassion for him if it does happen. He deserves whatever bad things come his way, as do all pedophiles. I'd be fine with putting them all through a wood chipper, but I know that isn't how we do things, so I'll just take satisfaction knowing he's likely looking at about a decade of misery behind bars before he gets another opportunity to ruin kids' lives.

I am kind of tired of explaining the whole Pete thing but I will make this comment. Police confiscated 11 computers from his home and no porn was downloaded on any of them. He used a credit card to access a porn site one time, to make a point about credit card companies financing porn.

He addressed the facts in numerous interviews when he published his memoirs a couple of years ago. Try Google.

that's what I thought too.... I read his biography where he explained what happened. apparently they found that he spent less than a minute on the site and never downloaded anything. I really don't know who to believe, but it seems like he definitely regrets even doing that and was also a victim of child abuse from his aunt and her lovers.

until I read that, I was boycotting the Who on principal. decided to read his book to hear his take on the case. definitely an interesting life he has led.

I could try Google, but it will give me multiple versions of the story including the one you believe. You may very well be correct, but you'd never find me accessing child pornography to 'prove a point'. If the version he wishes people to endorse is true then at a very minimum he's not very bright.
