    Cancer and depression must be treated as separate issues. You're both right in that you can't help having depression but you can do something about it

    You can try to do something about it, but for many people it is a lifelong struggle no matter what they try. Same with anxiety and panic disorders and all other mental illnesses, major or minor.
    Life is definitely not so simple as saying "I choose to live this way..." Some things are just out of people's control.
