I posted this before, but try Sonata. I guess it doesn't stay in your system as long as Ambien so if you wake up at 3 you can take it and when you get up in the morning, you don't feel all drugged out.0

Is Sonata prescription? Or OTC?NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

Yes, I have a dog. That's part of the reason why I sleep with ear plugs - she's not the quietest sleeper. I know without a doubt that I'd wake up if our smoke alarms went off - the ear plugs are good, but not that good. And I guess I'll just accept the exceedingly small risk that some stealthy person will break in as part of life.PJ_Soul said:
Yeah, there are definitely safety issues with that. Fire is the thing that came to my mind. Would hate for anyone to sleep too long during a house fire because of earplugs!JWPearl said:
Do you have a dog ? What if somebody breaks in while your sleeping? sorry to sound like a downing but was just wonderinoftenreading said:I've slept for years with ear plugs because I tend to be a very light sleeper and if I'm woken up by noise in the night I may be awake for hours. In fact, as strange as it may sound, I have custom earplugs (made by an audiologist) that are super comfortable. I feel like I'm in a quiet little cocoon. This won't work for people who are freaked out if they can't hear what's around them, but it works for me.

Nope...Can't sleep. Don't want to take any valarian now otherwise I'll sleep till noon.
I have a 'relax and sleep' app on my phone that lets you make your own custom sound machine noise. It has something like 20 different sounds, and you can adjust each sound for the perfect 'blend', I usually pick 'hard rain' and mix it with thunder, ocean waves, seagulls, and campfire. It also has a timer so it doesn't run all night. I have discovered that a certain someone's snoring can actually drown out the app, even with ear buds. :neutral face:
Now I just need to make a headband that will hold my ear buds close to my ears, but not annoy the fuck out of me. (i also have that weird fear of hearing something when I wear ear buds with a combination of generally not liking wearing ear buds...I'll post my creation when I finish making it.)The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

What do you do when you've taken a pill, but it doesn't put you to sleep, but it still makes you stupid & slow & bumping into things & ď dizzy/groggy an hour and a half after consumption?I don't do drugs because i dislike being high but ambien seems not to care about that.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

When I had ambient, my doctor said I had to be 'in bed' not walking around otherwise it wouldn't work. Have you tried drinking a warm cup of tea and getting into bed?ldent42 said:What do you do when you've taken a pill, but it doesn't put you to sleep, but it still makes you stupid & slow & bumping into things & ď dizzy/groggy an hour and a half after consumption?I don't do drugs because i dislike being high but ambien seems not to care about that.

Ha! I wish these things worked for me!! My oldest sister lays her head on a pillow and she's OUT! I lie awake tossing and turning.. A fly farts and I wake up! ( I have super retard sensitive hearing! I can hear -15 dog whistles!) but I can't stand having ear plugs.. I do have to have a fan on.. I hate sleeping meds cause I feel like a zombie the whole next day. I used to take 1600 mg of Seroquel for sleep, but I'd still wake up, and feeling drunk no less, plus, developed Diabetes from it.. So no more Seroquel for me! Now I just have to find something that works to keep me from freaking out during the day.. I have horrid social anxiety on top of insomnia. So as soon as I find something that works.. I'll share it. Until then.. I just lie as still and quiet as I can, listen to my cat purr and wait for sleep. Good luck to us all!0

^^ have you tried custom sleeper molds? They're made of softer material and might take a bit of getting used to. Most hearing clinics can make them for you.
As for just laying there waiting to sleep. Are you tired when you go to bed? Do you exercise? If not, maybe that'll make you sleepy. Also, reading might help.Another habit says it's in love with you

My husband left at 4am this morning for elk camp and i've been awake since then...unfortunately I had some inomnia when he woke me up to say goodbye...he'll be gone for a week so of course I wanted to say goodbye, but damnit all, I needed to get back to sleep...and then our dog didn't help matters any...he's attached to my husband at the hip and he knew something was up and that dad wasn;t just going to work and he whined and whined....Music is my Religion and Pearl Jam, my Savior!

Yea I had been in bed for a couple hours b4 I resorted to the pill. I stayed in bed for another hour and a half before I got up for water. I fell asleep shortly thereafter. I must've just been frustrated when I posted this. It's just annoying I up a dozen times or so but still couldn't manage 8 hours. Oh AND I'm late for everything now.
Also sorry for posting while Ambien high. I can't not have the phone next to me so sometimes I end up saying stupid shit on the internet.Post edited by ldent42 onNYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

I've been resorting to Ativan lately out of desperation. I told the doc I didn't want to get used to doing that (addiction), and he wouldn't come up with anything better when I asked... it's like he was too lazy to help me any further. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. don't worry Ident...we're all in the same boat for trying to sleep. I have some ambien from like 5 years ago...sometimes I want to take it, and then I'm afraid of what would happen if I did, would I just be all ambien high instead of sleeping?
I could sleep better if someone wouldn't snore so loud! I got a sound meter app on my phone so I could show them how loud they are... 75dbThe joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Usually exhausted by the time I lay Down.. But my BODY is tired.. My brain is NEVER tired.. It never stops.. I listen to the cat purr or music. I'm hoping my doctor can help
Me soon!! I hate not sleeping! And as of now, I work seriously hard core machinery at work. I can't be all brain fuddled, like most sleep meds make me feel in the morning. So I am
Just waiting to see what the doc says.. Sad, the only thing that's ever worked made me sick.0 -
aaaaaaaaaaand that's why i'm never sharing my bed with anyone on a nightly basis. Yeah, that's the thing about insomnia. It's not about not feeling sleepy. It's about being insanely sleepy and not being able to sleep anyway. It's awful. :-qwhispering hands said:
