you'd think PSU just won the national fucking championship. sheesh.

Here's where I'm coming from...these kids decided to go to a school that was in some trouble. They knew they weren't going to play in bowls and their teammates weren't going to be the best in the country (scholarship limits). Since these kids decided to go to a great school and play some ball and write their own football legacy, I'm going to root my heart out for these kids.

They just beat a BCS Bowl winning team, yeah they lost their QB, but I hope they continue to win some games and have a great time doing it. I'm going to have a great time with them.
    I can respect that but.....

    I hate calling them kids.

They may have had no better offers.

    I'm a Buckeye fan :D

Dude, they're 18-22 years old...that's kids in my book. Ok, the 18-19 year olds are - ha, ha.

That QB of theirs was one of the most sought after QBs in the country. I'll agree some may not have had better offers, but quite a few were big time recruits.

Bring on the end of October - wink wink

    this is classic:

    http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/gilbert/2014/09/02/max-hall-arrested-cocaine-abrk/14981439/

ex-BYU QB max hall busted for shoplifting and drug possession. some local scribes are telling us Utah fans to be nice, take pity on max, etc. This is a guy who said "I hate Utah, I hate the program, I hate their fans, I hate everything about them." We Utah fans get a little tired of the self righteous crap coming out of provo. austin collie once said "Obviously, if you do what's right on and off the field, I think the Lord steps in and plays a part in it; magic happens." what a buch of douches.

love that max is wearing a BYU shirt in his mug shot :))

USC playing "The Weekender" (USC annual trip to the Bay Area to play either Stanford or Cal) in week 2 this year....ugh, Stanford. Not able to make the trip out.
When I went to USC we never stayed past halftime of a Stanford game because we would be destroying them by then. After being pushed around for a handful of years USC finally stole one back last year, beating Stanford in a close game that pushed them out of the title picture.
This weekend there are 2 games that interest me greatly -- SC/Stanford and then Oregon/MSU. (And I guess I want to see UM beat on Notre Dame but not sure that will happen.)

Most teams are playing chumps this week -- hope that the playoff system means that we stop seeing cupcake schedules by all teams.

    .

you're running with a worse crowd if you're enrolled at BYU.

Kids had baseball today, so I had to Dvr that shitshow. Agree Cliffy, they can't fucking run. We have to be passing 60% of first downs (higher, I'm sure), and I don't mind 'cause kid hits on first...but is it me or is he making more "young" mistakes this year?

They'll be ok, let's win in Jersey next week and keep it going. Fucking ugly though.

Purdue is paying $2M a year to a coach where I'm pretty sure I could get the same results for $35,000 / yr. At least he benched Danny Etling after his 87th overthrown pass of the year.

Yeah, that was really ugly. Hackenberg definitely has too much confidence at times. Playing calling is suspect at times as well on the offensive side of the ball which is surprising given Franklin's offensive experience.

Was definitely a prime trap game. Noon game after coming back from a real high in Ireland. I am sure it was a pretty cool week being back on campus and all.

    Bring on Piscataway.

USC with a solid win for the team. Not sure if anyone watched the game (mostly PSU talk here) but the play calling for USC was fucking atrocious. I thought Kiffin was back in town....the team beat Stanford in spite of their coaching, not because of it.

The Oregon/MSU game was wild early and then Oregon showed why playing them in Eugene can be so tough. Wish that had been a neutral site game.

    Michigan is an embarrassment.

Wanted to watch the game, but after Penn State then the Yanks right after with the US Open and golf mixed in, the wife had enough sports by the evening.

This is why I love my den. Originally I never thought I would use a couch and a big screen down there but it is where I go to watch football for 2 days straight and allow my wife to still watch the big TV if needed. Not sure how many weeks I can get away with 2 full days but having a nearly 3 month old helps. (I can take him with me and she can get a break....)

    http://news.dlapiper.com/Press-releases/Monitor-announces-delivery-of-second-annual-report-to-Penn-state-the-NCAA-and-the-Big-Ten-Conferen-946.aspx

Mitchell is recommending bowl eligibility this year and max scholarships next, if I am reading this correctly.

    Wait. What does this mean?

I am pleased that they accepted my report and adopted my recommendations,” Senator Mitchell concluded.
