Yeah agree lotsa money flowing south. Now think about how much money we piss away giving money to countries on other side of world. At least it's going to our neighbors that help the us more. Mexico imports tons from US if that's any consolation.Godfather. said:
true enough but they are not US citizens there for should not be here in the first place and by the way have you read or heard how much money goes across the border just from immigrant workers every year ?, in san diego if you are aware of whats going on you can find them living in canyons of up scale neighborhoods and every now and then they start(accidental) fires in those canyons and sometimes those fires burn down homes....but anyway those dollars are going into mexico's economy..not this one.mickeyrat said:Taxes are paid on every single item they purchase. Thinking food prices go up immediately. Big constraints on construction. Will cause real inflation. Be interesting to get some good data on impact.mickeyrat said:

some of that cash is staying here to rent apartments/houses , pay utilities, the shit ton of groceries I see these guys buying in Meijers(where I shop) , patronize businesses that started up to cater to that culture by those with legal status , employing people to do so etc.
There WILL be some kind of impact to our economy should a mass deportation take place. To what degree is debatable , but soem kind of impact is to be had. What do you suggest we do with those who are going to work everyday contributing to our way of living? You know those that are lining the pockets of douchbag americans exploiting undocumented status and skirting criminal law as well as civil law not to mention not paying into the SS , Medicare etc. I say lets start with jailing those that employ the undocumented. We''ll see how quickly a resolution to this issue takes place.10-18-2000 Houston, 04-06-2003 Houston, 6-25-2003 Toronto, 10-8-2004 Kissimmee, 9-4-2005 Calgary, 12-3-05 Sao Paulo, 7-2-2006 Denver, 7-22-06 Gorge, 7-23-2006 Gorge, 9-13-2006 Bern, 6-22-2008 DC, 6-24-2008 MSG, 6-25-2008 MSG0 -

I'm good with temporary worker visa. I'm also good with streaming the process to become a citizen, I'm just against the easy way out.

it is a negative term for babies that are born to illegal immigrants in the united states, which keeps the parents from being deported right away. the baby is an "anchor" keeping the parents and child here in the us.chadwick said:what actually is "anchor baby?"

it is hard to gain supporters for your side of an issue when terms like that are common on shows like limbaugh and o'reilly."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Who knows maybe I'm getting old and conservative. The term anchor baby may be a bad choice of words but in my travels throughout Houston, and I mix it up with my fellow humans, having a child in the us is a primary goal for many. The us tax payer is on the hook for medical expenses, and schooling as well as vehicle for parents to become citizens. Anchor baby is commonly used in south.
Now the parents and some of the offspring(second generation can become dicks like us) raise the standard of living and as us crusty old white people age, we'll be cared for by them. Also Hispanics are nurturing and caring, much more than whites , yellows, and the darker browns.
The cheap labor from south benefits us all. Just controlling it.

I can't say I've ever paid them any mind, they aren't worth my time.
I was speaking of the anchor babies and their parents that take advantage of the system. The parents offend me that they use a child to get around our laws. It is a loophole that needs to be closed, it isn't being used as intended.

very true Micky that Mexicans are not the only ones sending money home but this thread is about the Mexican Border immigration crisis, and if that store owner is catering to the needs and money of illegals is he not incouraging illegal activity ? you had mentioned " I say lets start with jailing those that employ the undocumented." and you know how the American system works, once we start with jailing employers we will start jailing business owners that knowingly cater to the illegals, besides you know non of this will ever happen, worst case senrieo the house gets filled with republicans in 2016 and the new prez launches a full scale all out attack on our borders deploying national guard along with regular military and employing more agents............then start a deportation process of the likes this country has never seen(if I'm going to dream I may as well dream big right)mickeyrat said:

it is not selfish to have an opinion, it is a selfish opinion to have. This lame ass right wing (dont deny its a right wing mentality, even if you dont consider yourself an rwinger) idealogy says " I dont want MY taxes to pay for food and healthcare for those OTHERS who were born without OUR advantages. Nevermind MY taxes going into the pockets of the super rich, nevermind MY taxes building drones to extrajudicially assasinate, nevermind MY taxes going toward the NSA spying on me, nope lets talk about government "handouts" to "welfare moms" and "anchor babies". Its a chickenshit deflection that comes from the power elite and those who fall for it are just pathetic. Tow the line and dont criticize the man behind the curtain! Dont worry, you are in the majority, those of us who protest real injustices and inhumanity will continue to talk about peace and equality and you can continue to spout about "them" and "their handouts"Indifference71 said:

Imagine the desperation it takes to pull up your roots and head for another country to live there illegally and in fear of prosecution. The situations they live in must be extremely poor for them to be willing to do that. I'm sure most of us would never consider it. Doesn't that deserve some compassion? People are people. Why is it OK to shun them and remove them yet continue to support millions upon millions in this country who are essentially unwilling to lift a hand to better their situation?
I say let anyone in who wants to be in. Those that don't like it can find some other country that wants to shun people who need help. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0
