Not a fan of this list thing, never tried to queue so early. I'd rather see the city I'm in first and then go the gig as doors open. Maybe I should head to Wuhlheide now and start a list....
No use going now, the list and line will start on the train or bus from Vienna, that's where the people who need to be up front are. They will then nap at their hostel until afternoon and then show up at the venue to claim their rightful spots.
my guess is that Golden Circle is GA because it's right in front of the stage. Someone else maybe able to answer better than i. Call the venue and ask them if the Golden Circle area is reserved for Pearl Jam Ten Club members.
Ten Club tickets are for the Golden Circle area, but the area is not only for Ten Club members, you could buy tickets through normal sales.
The area is huge anyway, if it's similar to what Springsteen had at the same venue, will hold about 3000 people easily.
Never paid attention to any lists for any GA shows I have attended. Portland/Spokane, just queued up about an hour before entry and got to 2nd row easy. Amsterdam 1 this year, turned up at 3pm to get in the general queue away from all the numbers fuckers at the front. My gf got rail on Mike side and i am directly behind her. Leeds I will turn up at 5pm and just enjoy the damn atmosphere and I'll be at the front still.
So my point is fuck the list!

No clue what this list is. I was in GA for 3 shows last fall and all 3 shows I just went to a random gate around the time that the gates opened, got my ticket scanned and walked down to GA. All 3 times I was dead center, never more than 2-3 people back from the rail.
Also, I've had the rail once. My roomate and I waited 12 hours outside, didnt use the bathroom, drink or eat for the entire time. It was miserable yes, but worth it. If you want the rail, you shouldn't be allowed to leave the line, simple as that.

No disrespect to my Euro friends, but I've found the list is a distinctly European thing. And as I've stated elsewhere, I'll be damned if I'm going to stand in line...for hours...for a slightly closer spot...while in Europe. I'll also be damned if I'm going waste two seconds of time allowing some ultra fan dictate to me when I can go into the show.
Don't line up. Don't worry about the rail. Go have a beer and then go get down at the show.

If you're there for the music, does it really matter how close to the rail you are? Seriously? Lining up for 12+ hours to be on the rail seems luda to me, but apparently it brings others joy.

Aren't some the European venues significantly larger? I feel this amplifies the issue... ...also, if it starts to become the norm on the other side of the pond; it's only a matter of time before this BS system finds it's way to the States. And if there's one thing we're really good at, is taking a 'good' concept and f'n it all up.

no, it doesn't. I was 15 rows (seats-no GA) back in Winnipeg '11 and it was fucking amazing. The closest I've been at a big rock show is row 6 for the Hip, and I gotta admit, being that close was pretty cool. However, it's not worth wasting a full day of my time for. Then again, maybe I'm not a "true fan". LOL

I agree with the 12+ hour wait thing.
But disagree with the "all for the music" take. I love the music and all, but if I end up in shitty floor seats staring at someone's back for 3 hours, it really kind of sucks.

I was referring to the GA area, not the venue in general.
I get it, people want to be on the rail for a chance at some vino & band swag. That's fair and totally their right to attempt for such things. It's just that the end goal in my mind has always been about the music, not being on the rail as a sort of validation.

Y'all can have your rail and wait in line all day, braving the elements and superfans with acoustic guitars.
I'm kicking back with dinner and drinks before the show, and then I'm gonna saunter over to the merch bus, buy me some stuff, take it all somewhere that I don't have to carry it the whole show, grab some more beers and find my way in.
It's amazing how close you can get when you still show up nine hours after the first people got in line. Half drunk, belly full, bladder empty, merch procured, high fives aplenty.

for me, I would like to do it 1 time. I think if I ever got GA I would try to get a good spot.
I dont think I would need to do it for numerous shows or anything.
You can still have a great spot without waiting all day. I couldn't imagine traveling somewhere and spending the whole day in line when I could be sight seeing and what not.

It depends on where I am, I guess. Like hometown, meh. Pittsburgh we just slugged a few beers in the hotel before showing up. Cleveland I wouldnt miss hanging out at Flannery's, Toronto a lot to do around the ACC... a place I havent been, etc.

I LOVED the Spokane show. Just because many folks that I know that didn't have to wait for hours & hours outside the front door that didn't have to put their names on this "death note" of a list or numeric writings on their hand, got rail & were pretty freaking close to the stage, just because they went to the back door of the arena where the good folks working the arena let them in early. O:-)
Superfans? Elitist guitar playing groups? Humans are assholes? Have you all lost your minds?! This kind of thinking makes me sick. It fuels nothing but anger & resentment. Just stop. It uglies this place up bad.

I agree that some of this is ridiculous, threatening violence and name calling going on in this and another thread. The op does have a legitimate beef though. If these things aren't discussed, the powers that be might not be made aware it is still happening. If Ten Club states first come first serve, no list, people that aren't aware of this process can be extremely frustrated, but yeah this is getting a little ugly on the board.
Too much "I'm gonna piss on the list and shove it down your throat" tough guy attitude. People need to take deep breathe and relax. Just have fun at the show and don't be an asshole. >-
'The List' is like communism: it's great on paper, and when you add human greed/corruption and other self-serving behaviours, the system begins to crumble rapidly.
Some people will say "piss in a bottle, no leaving!", others will say "sure, you can go for lunch!".
Some people will say "your +1 better be here all day", others will say "I'm so sorry your seven best friends had to work late - of course I'll let them in when they arrive".
Honestly, I'm sick of this discussion. For the people who showed up twenty minutes prior to doors open after being absent for all of the day and acted like entitled assholes, I didn't have the time of day for them and initiated linebacker mode (very hard to do as a 5"7 stalky Jew). For the Columbian (perhaps) family with numbers higher than mine with a kid who was grinning from ear to ear and hadn't been there all day and were polite, friendly, and conversational - I was more than happy to let them in front.
When I got hungry, I went for lunch. How did I justify a lunch break? I asked the people around me - who I had befriended and had great conversations with all day - if it was okay. I also asked if they needed anything. Take care of those around you, let those around you take care of you, have a good time, and trust that shit will work out. Fuck the list - just let it be a non-issue and go on with doing what you want to do, and what you feel is right. End result: I was welcomed to the rail by new friends who wedged to the side and let me squeeze in right in front of Mike McCready.
