Why are people still abiding by a list.Total nonsense.

I thought maybe the Ten Club stating there is no recognized list would help. Why are people so quick to call out scalpers and flippers, yet still allow this shit to happen? The Ten Club says first come first serve. The people lining up are obviously diehards and most likely on here. Wtf?
    =D>
Hats off to you for not participating and sticking with your principles. Enjoy the show anyways. It's still Pearl Jam right? I'd hang upside down from the rafters in a gimp suit, with a gag ball in my mouth if it was the only way for me to see them! :))
  • It all sounds so juvenile. If i show up a week before and check in once per day, can i get in first? Can i? Can i?

Time to start getting confrontational/physical apparently....

Can't wait for this to happen at a show and then we'll see what happens with those fucktards lists. And what the 10C does about it. I have a feeling if this shit happens, we can all kiss GA goodbye

I'm so glad I have reserved seats for this fall. Now I can drink all day before the show! But this list is pure BS!
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.

This is one of the reasons I didn't go for GA. Usually at GA shows, there are a 'couple' of people who appear at the last minute and sneak in with their friends; but I've never witnessed this happening without A LOT of the people on line refusing to allow this to happen. I've waited on lines for more than a day for shows, book signings, tickets and i have NEVER heard of anything like this being allowed to continue. Especially, in the numbers that are being posted. Who started the list idea and are they anymore than just another fan? Why is everyone giving them so much power? And they could just make a list of whomever they want and those people wouldn't have to bother to show up till the end. It sounds, to me, like people who have been to many shows figuring out a way to be in front while people who are not as 'seasoned' getting screwed. Can't security be told about the list (I have seen security physically throw people out of line who have tried this)? Can't someone just take the list, dispose of it and, if necessary, bring their own sharpie and put numbers on people's hands in the actual order of those who are standing in line for the duration. There are always people who find ways to manipulate the system, while those who follow the rules are left pissed off because they have been wronged. This was going on in the posts for US 2013, I can't believe they can still get away with this. This isn't in the spirit of Pearl Jam (the band) and it is just allowing the same people to be up front show after show after show. No fan is better than another fan and this list shit sounds like people who really need to take themselves less seriously and not think that they have one up on the rest of the fans. I would be pissed and it would, unfortunately, color my feeling about the whole experience. So I opted to not even try and avoid all the bullshit. They should stop, knowing how much trouble they are causing; but maybe they don't give a shit. Nice way to look out for your neighbor - oh wait - their neighbor was on the list too. Nevermind.,

Yup. The List concept has relegated me to reserved seating also. These people sound like real assholes. I'd rather enjoy the show from afar than have to stand next to them. A few bad apples are gonna ruin it for everyone....

problem is these people convince security that "the list" is what Pearl Jam wants. Happened to me in Oklahoma. I was told by SECURITY to get out of line and go get a number

Okay..I have no idea what anybody is talking about in this thread. I've skimmed some threads about "the list" but have no idea what it really means. For starters, I've never been in a GA section of an arena that also has seats on the floor. Every concert I've ever attended in an arena (until last year's PJ shows) were either all seats on the floor or all GA on the floor (like a Rage Against The Machine show for instance). Now, at shows with seats on the floor, you go to your seat...obviously. Shows with GA on the floor, you stand where ever there's room to stand.

So would somebody please give me a "List For Dummies" rundown? What is this? I figure that people should line up and wait for the pit to open. Get as close as they can when it opens. And that's it. SO WHAT IS THIS? I'm have GA for Denver. And I'm not that interested in getting close enough for Eddie to sweat on me or Mike to throw me a handful of picks. But when I arrive, I want to be able to fucking walk into the pit entrance and be there. So anyone...a layman's explanation please?

I'm with you...this thread just blew my mind.

What the hell is this list nonsense and how does it apply to those of us with a GA ticket for an upcoming show?

...So much talk it makes no sense at all...

Exactly, that's my question: Okay, so someone has a "list". How does this affect ME on October 22nd in Denver?

Ha, well there was enough paper since the list was so long.

I'm now too angry to sleep - maybe I should have just stayed out there.... X(

You could always try and enforce the actual rules, but that might get you mobbed.
We're not assertive people by any stretch of the imagination - but I spoke up (it was terrifying! :). ) and I tried, actually stated what was in the 10c email. No-one backed me up.

What do you do when you're one voice in the crowd???

We could have left, went back at 6 and kept our place in line I was told when I went to cross our names off the list. BUT THAT'S NOT FAIR!!!! Well it's ok cos that's what's been happening the whole tour. THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT FAIR OR RIGHT!!! Well there are these 3 people you could cross off who didn't make it back at midnight. WTF?? If they weren't back, and you know they're not back, why the hell are they still on the list?????

There wasn't anything else we could do but remove our names and leave. Not that anyone there would have given a shit! ;)
That sucks! I would have backed you up if I'd been there. ;) Good for you for saying something; I'm appalled that people would ignore those who pointed out the injustice. I don't blame you for being so pissed off. I would be raging. These people are such pricks.

I just show up half an hour before the doors open, don't have anything to do with the list, and get an awesome spot in the pit anyway. But this all really makes me mad on behalf of the HONEST and FAIR people who want to line up early. I've seen some of the cheating asshole who like this list system, and they all blab about how they meet awesome people in the line so it's not a waste of time, blah blah blah, but I'd rather do just about anything than spend any part of my day in a line up full of these idiots who don't respect other people.

But I'll be damn ed if I'm going to let these scum bags ruin my concert experience in the pit. That's why I let these selfish quasi - stalkers have the rail, and I'll enjoy the show with decent people three deep.

Yes, where are all the list supporters? Maybe they could shed some light on this. I could just write my name on a piece of paper and call it the "official list". It would hold as much weight in my opinion.

They hide in the shadows, lurking, and hatching new plans on how to best screw over fellow fans at the next show.

  • To those asking....the list is simply a way for say 7 people to show up hours before the show. Those 7 people now have those spots in line reserved until the doors open whether they leave the line for hours or minutes or not at all. People on the list are going to the fucking preparty and when they get back to the line, potentially hours later, they are back at their place in line, even though that line now has 200 people who have stood in line longer than any of them have at the front. Sometimes it seems there is a list or there is someone designated to number the hands of those in line as they show up with a sharpie. Its nonsense. You leave the line for anything except the bathroom, you have forfeited your spot. I learned that before fucking kindergarten. Not these people. They are the "real" fans who showed up before everyone else just to go to the bar and relax whole everyone else holds their spot.

Never happened to me, never will, but it is still bullshit. No different than the assholes who buy up all the good merch to resell afterwards.

Why would they show themselves when there is no need to. Just keep doing their thing without any kind of recourse. Life is good.

this is exactly why this gets me so upset...not everyone knows about this stupid system and those are the people that are going to get screwed. This is a fan created system that caters to those in the know....everyone else is shit out of luck.

Is it me or is the common thing involving this list is the preparty. Seems like people go put their name on the list and go to the preparty. Same people are almost at every show in the same spots. Just look at Amsterdam 1 & 2 if u were there. So maybe someone needs to honestly step up from the 10C and put a STOP to this bullshit, before someone gets fucked up for trying to get back in "his/her" place 7 hrs later. It WILL get violent one day and then GA goes away. Who's to blame? Fucktards with that corny ass list.

I have no problems with a list at all. If I'd arrived at 11:30pm, been 75th and 76th and there were actually 74 other people sitting waiting, no problem at all! But there were 15 max. 40-50 show up half an hour later for a 'check in', after that we're back to around 15 people again.

The list isn't the problem - I've seen it work fine before when used properly: A way to document who shows up to queue , in the order they show up. That way if the line gets moved or we're asked to group together, you still know who should be where in line in order to enter the venue in the order of who's waited the longest.

The problem is when groups of people collectively put their own 'rules' in place so that a queue is no longer a queue. Such as you can piss off for 6 hours and still expect to be in front of people who didn't piss off for 6 hours. That's what's wrong. They haven't stuck to the etiquette the 10c stated in their confirmation emails. Which means only an elite few have this privileged information, show up early, get their name on the numbered list and sod off for hours at a time.

    It's bullshit.
