Lottery or No Lottery

It's not lingo. It's actually what it is. A lottery is a random draw. The seat selection based on seniority is not a random draw.lukintomyeyes said:i thought we always called it the lottery? My friends and I have always called it that. Sorry i'm not hip to the heady lingo

In fact, I know this is true because one of the girls waiting in line with me scored front section seats and screamed "I got lottery tickets!"lukintomyeyes said:
I pretty distinctly remember that they gave several tickets to the front sections that weren't based on seniority, but maybe I'm dreaming that tooPJ_Soul said:
That wasn't a lottery. Those seats were selected based on your seniority.lukintomyeyes said:
So standing in the tenclub line in Chicago 2009 waiting to see if I got good tickets or shitty ones was what? a dream?know1 said:
They didn't do the lottery until 2013, so I'm not sure what you're talking about.lukintomyeyes said:I've been in since 2003 and have never had much luck with the lottery. I landed tickets to PJ20, so that was good I guess. Other than that, I've been shut out of every lottery except Chicago, 2009, and the seats I "won" were way further away than what my friends got through ticketmaster.

again, i'm pretty sure they gave a certain number of tickets that weren't based on seniority at all, and we always called that the lottery.PJ_Soul said:

Lottery = random pulls to get tickets, ie, what is happening right now.
Seat selection is based on seniority.
Within that seat selection process, there was a "lottery" to decide who got rows 1-2 and 9-10. That is not the lottery that is taking place. The lottery everyone is talking about is how they process shows now. Waiting in line to see if you got GOOD tickets is not a lottery, that means you got tickets. what is going on NOW, is a lottery. People are waiting to see if they even got tickets to the show based on random pulls.Turn this anger into

what you talking about was the lottery after people score tickets ..they do a draw for 1-2 and 9-10 rows of reserved seats..was random anfd no seniority like the rest of the 10c tix

Yeah, they used to open 4 rows to a random draw so that members with shitty numbers would have a miniscule change to get a decent seat, that's true. But that has no relation to what's going on with the lottery system we have now.lukintomyeyes said:

Well I didn't win so I don't like it. I'm a member and I only see Pearl Jam when they come to my local city, Denver. The last time was 2006. I've kept my membership waiting for them to return and now I lost the lottery. :( it seems unfair to me.0

But there were more people going for tix than were available. You were just as likely to have not got tix no matter what system they were using unless they increased the number of 10C tix available. If you had gotten tix someone else wouldn't have, so equally "unfair" to them, right?kristie73 said:Well I didn't win so I don't like it. Are all ten club members going for Denver tickets living in the area?0

I saw plenty of posts from people who will be traveling in for Denver. Why?kristie73 said:Are all ten club members going for Denver tickets living in the area?

lottery -
i loved spending four hours today patiently awaiting an e-mail from 10C and an occasional refresh on my account while at work rather than frantically F5'ing every few seconds for four hours, again... while at work.0 -
I don't understand for 1 show, people find out they scored an hour in... others then start getting denials.... others trickle both ways for hours.... and here I am 5 hours later with a pocket full of tbd.0

I just think the lottery would feel more fair if local ten club members had a better shot at tickets in their city. I'm disappointed with this ten club experience.0
-
It wouldn't be fair at all to all those people who live in places where Pearl Jam never ever goes. At least you had a shot. If they prioritized locals, a huge number of members would have no shot at all. That would be the most unfair thing possible.kristie73 said:I just think the lottery would feel more fair if local ten club members had a better shot at tickets in their city. You saw the odds on the lottery, right? There were shows where only 1 in 8 people won tix. Maybe the best solution for those who are feeling disappointed is to lower expectations given how many fans are trying for tix vs how many are available. And then look forward to the ticketmaster sale and/or start looking for ticket buddies, which is actually by far the best way to get tix if you can find one!

Thank god i never experienced f5. From 2003 to 2012 my experience was:
I go to the website, find the shows i wanted. Click click click done. Then i am rocking in the free world. I guess i had a unique experience...0 -
Lottery. I've won 3 out of 6 shows I've entered going back to London, ON. F5 was just another type of lottery but for those of us who don't have the time to play that game, this lottery is much better. And I had about same winning percentage using F5. Please keep GA. My number puts me usually around row 11-13 on main floor and I much prefer sitting reserved on the side. Nice to have a choice0

even though i "won" this time, i still say the lottery blows.did you see me? i saw you.0

Lost all four MIL & MOL! 192,xxx. This is total BS as people with 400,xxx can get tickets before I can. What the F is the point of being in the 10C for as long as I have? Sorry, but this system sucks after the Wrigley loss and now this.192xxx

I'm a 4xx,xxx number and have been in and out of the fan club over the decades and would have to agree with you. Loyalty needs to pay off. PJ coming to your hometown or nearby town should also weight your entry more than someone from out of state to pull in as much as the local 10C members as possible.PJ and Dylan are my muse said:Lost all four MIL & MOL! 192,xxx.
