Things were different then. All is different now.
I tried to explain. I hope this works somehow.

There is that, Im sure many had multiple entries who only got one pair.pjsteelerfan said:

One thing is for sure. Those who accompany me to shows who arent in the club and family members are all going to have memberships next time around and we are going to do this the right way.
Terrible system. Dont mind the theory of lottery, but the GA option makes it a slimy operation.0 -
You had a great idea that to be eligible for GA you have to be a member for over a year, I think it should be 2 years. Would cut down on the bogus memberships.MayDay10 said:

I have no less a sense of entitlement than the new member who thinks they deserve equal rights to tickets as the 18 year member. At least I actually have some track record to argue for entitlement.iamloco724 said:What I don't get is is it my fault that I was too young in the 90s to go to shows and know about a fan club is why should a fan such as my self not that the same chance at tickets that someone that has been a member since day 1, I'm 28 years old I've been a fan since the start I just didn't have parents that would take me to shows as a child etc..
I also wasn't aware of the fan club for whatever reason till later on
But I've been a member now atleast 6 to 7 years I first saw them in 06 and have seen them 13 times since with my girlfriend who is also a big fan
We have never been within the first 5 rows, we won ga tickets this time around and finally have that chance and are traveling from Brooklyn ny to 4 dates on this tour
You might not say you are spoiled but thinking you are entitled to anything no matter how much money you put into the band makes you come off spoiled, as someone else said this is one of the most equal ways to do things, no one should be more entitled to a ticket
Seniority still matters because I don't even try for seats anymore because I know my number won't do me justice with reserved so Seniority gets you that advantage that you will have a great seat or ga
The band wants it this way, and it would be tougher to recruit new members if they change the rules so it is what it is.
But don't call me spoiled when I shelled out for countless plane tickets, 1,000's of miles worth of gas, hotel stays, sleeping in the car, concert tickets, etc...0 -
Long time member here. Here's my easy fix: play more shows. Get rid of ga. Have some shows seniority based and others totally random. Four show limit per leg.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I dont understand why it takes 7-8 hours. People get tickets, get declined, and get tickets at all points over the 7-8 hours.... even if its not, it just kind of makes me feel like it is a disorganized/unclean process.
I would feel better about the process if entries were closed, and at noon EST the following day, they blasted out all emails and results at the same time.0 -

So if spent 20.000 in a year...did i cover the years i wasnt a member??bootlegger10 said:You know , I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. If someone has given PJ directly over $20,000 over the years for tix/merch and been a member since 1998, they do deserve a 10c ticket over a fan who just became a member this year so they could get a fan club ticket.
we pay membership per year...means this year all members are the same for score tix..
the system of senority is just fine
if they make categories at fans privelege then fans they never played near their area should get a refound and charge less than others..

You're making a lot of assumptions about new members. Why do you assume that someone who is new to the fan club aren't just as in love with the band as you are? I only joined at the beginning of 2012, but I can assure you that I'm every bit as much of a fan as you are, and while I have been a fan since '91, I know there are plenty of people just as passionate about this band who only discovered them in more recent years.... so why should I be given a tougher time to see them than you, when I'm paying the same membership fees as you? Just because you have been LUCKY enough to have traveled extensively over the years to see the band doesn't mean you are more deserving of enjoying the band now. Shouldn't other people get to experience the joy that you have been fortunate enough to experience over and over and over and over and over and over again? Also, a huge number of people haven't been "unwilling" to see the band in all different places. The majority of people simply can't afford to do that, either monetarily or otherwise. Those people still deserve to enjoy the shows, every bit as much as you do.... maybe even more, since you've already done it so many times already.bootlegger10 said:
I understand your point. If a company has sports tickets to hand out they are likely to go either to the long-time, high fee client or the new client/prospect. You can't ignore new clients or fan club members.PJ_Soul said:
So what would the newer fans be paying membership fees for? No one would join and tons would drop the club if this happened.bootlegger10 said:You know, I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. Can't think of a worse financial or marketing tactic for Pearl Jam, driving away new fans and filling all the best seats and the entire pit at their rock concerts with old people, lol.
I feel that I have proven over a 16 year period that I am a loyal fan by seeing 76 shows with an average distance from my home of 400 miles per show, along with buying 100's of shirts, posters, vinyl, boots, etc... I feel like I deserve a better shot at tickets than someone who joined in 2013, who may never see another show.
I am not asking that I get every show I want, but I feel like I deserve better than getting my only ticket as my 10th f'n priority draw.
Some argue that folks who see a lot of shows are spoiled. Who deserves a ticket more, someone who travels the world to see them regardless of where they go, or the fan that is only willing to see them when convenient?
Again, we are talking fan club tickets here. I feel like those that are willing to go great lengths to see a show deserve them more than the crowd who will see a show if only in their backyard. I get that some can't afford to travel, but a lot is based on choice and prioritiesWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. If they got rid of GA there would be even less tickets than there are now and less people would be able to experience being closer to the stage.mcgruff10 said:Long time member here. People with seniority and think they deserve more don't give a shit about you though. They only care about what they can get for themselves.iamloco724 said:What I don't get is is it my fault that I was too young in the 90s to go to shows and know about a fan club is why should a fan such as my self not that the same chance at tickets that someone that has been a member since day 1, I'm 28 years old I've been a fan since the start I just didn't have parents that would take me to shows as a child etc..

The fact that people are "saddled" with extra pairs shows it can use some tweaking.0

But each member gets a pair. An individual member can't have more than one pair for a show. I personally think it's completely reasonable for a couple to both have a membership and both get an equal shot at a pair of tix. One membership fee = one equal chance. If that weren't the case, then wtf is one half of that couple paying for a membership for?? They're married or dating, not fused into one person. They have a right to their own membership benefits and to each take a friend or family member if they want to.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. The $20 gets you access to the fan club benefits for that year. I agree. There is no rule though that says the fan club can't change the ticket allocations to include a weighting for seniority. It won't ever happen though. I'm sorry that I believe that seniority should get some perk, and seniority has now been marginalized to half of the available tickets, and wing seats. Still a benefit but not as much.dimitrispearljam said:

I'm not mad that other fans got tickets. I don't want them not to get tickets. But I just think that seniority should be extended to accessing tickets now that demand is much greater than supply. Times have changed, the seniority rules can change too. If they don't, I'll continue to buy tickets from Tickemaster.Post edited by bootlegger10 on0 -
I don't think the person is mad about a couple who are both PJ fans. I think the person is mad at the person who signs up their spouse who doesn't care about PJ and won't go to the show, along with their kids who also won't attend the show, to help increase their chances for getting tickets (and then trading their extras for other cities).PJ_Soul said:But each member gets a pair. I'd gladly pay $200 a year to get 10 different draws at the lottery.0
