What ever happened to just being in the building. 3 out of my top 5 pj/EV experiences were tickets not thru

Lottery Fixes:
1. If you lost the prior lottery you get prioritized ahead of those that got tix last leg.
2. Allow people to request multiple shows they are willing to attend but put a numerical maximum. I was willing to attend at 4 different venues but only wanted to go to 1.95-Milwaukee, 98-East Troy, 00-East Troy, 03-Detroit Nights 1 and 2, 03-Toronto, 04-Grand Rapids, 05-Kitchener, 06-Cincinnati, 06-Auburn Hills, 10-New Orleans, 10-Kansas City, 11-PJ20 Nights 1 and 2, 13-Chicago, 14- Moline, 16-Chicago Nights 1 and 2, 18-Seattle Nights 1 and 2, Chicago Night 1, 21-Ohana Encore Night 1 and 2, 22-Imola, St. Louis.

You know, I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. If someone has given PJ directly over $20,000 over the years for tix/merch and been a member since 1998, they do deserve a 10c ticket over a fan who just became a member this year so they could get a fan club ticket.0

We aren't spoiled. We all pay for the tickets. The band makes a huge amount of money to the point where they only play 10 shows a tour cause they don't even need the money anymore. We pay a fee for the Ten Club to help negotiate for us.inmyohiotree said:What ever happened to just being in the building. 3 out of my top 5 pj/EV experiences were tickets not thru

Long timer here. For years newbies complained about the seats they were getting, even though the 10c was able to get them all in the building. So i will address the higher demand, increased popularity and shorter tours. THE GRAVY TRAIN IS OVER KIDS! I just wish the 10c would say that instead of this "hunger games" approach to fan club ticketing...rgambs said:i havnt seen any of the "senior members" address the increase in ticket demand coupled with shorter tours...just selfish complaints about how they used to score

So what would the newer fans be paying membership fees for? No one would join and tons would drop the club if this happened.bootlegger10 said:You know, I have re-thought seniority and believe it should be included in accessing tickets. Can't think of a worse financial or marketing tactic for Pearl Jam, driving away new fans and filling all the best seats and the entire pit at their rock concerts with old people, lol.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. I never said newer members should not get to see any...please follow me here...PJ_Soul said:Uhh, what would be the point of getting a membership at all now if only lower numbers got tix?? I doubt 10C wants to completely alienate 100,000 10C members across the board, give no reason for new members to sign up, and I also doubt that PJ wants to pack their 10C pit and seats with middle aged people, lol.
The point of you being a 10C member for as long as you have is that you've enjoyed being a member for 20+ years. Don't you think others ought to be able to enjoy it too?
Sorry, but this attitude that comes with not scoring tix where the demand exceeds supply by so much totally and completely floors me.... and kind of disgusts me, especially when people who have seen a ton of PJ shows over the years still think they ought to see yet more while newer members should not get to see any. Wtf.
First cater to members by hometown. Anyone in IL, gets 1st dibs on Moline BY SENORITY...unless more than one account holder has the same address (to block the spouse membership winning as well). In that case only one account holder at the address can/should win the hometown show.
Same for Milwaukee, anyone in WI
Same for St. Louis, anyone in MO
Etc., etc., etc....
So for the 5k (or whatever) 10C people entering from IL, lottery who get's GA then all the rest get seats BY SENORITY as is the case now.
Then go BY SENORITY for any that want out of town shows AFTER in state people get their's. I would have no problem with an MO 4xx,xxx getting a STL before me if I lived in IL.
But what about one off's like Wrigley or PJ20 you say? Easy...start with in state first BY SENORITY, then use a mileage circle BY SENORITY. Does that suck for Europe/Asia, etc.? Yup, but they get their own tours.
Finally, open up each show to as many 10C tickets as people wish to purchase. They, 10C people, should get SENORITY over the scalpers and the "public". Plenty of 10C people will bring someone from the "public" and the scalpers will be shut out. If anything, set aside a random 10-25% of seats across the whole venue for the public.
These types of data sets are not difficult to prepare and it would make it fair to the people that have put in the time, energy and costs over the many years. However 10C should also limit how many shows you can win to your hometown and one other. If you want to "do the tour", then find other fans that you can swap with or go public. Who the #ell needs to see more than four shows?
It all seems very simple to me. Please, I am open to hearing why THIS should not be the way it works each time there is a show/tour.

I understand your point. If a company has sports tickets to hand out they are likely to go either to the long-time, high fee client or the new client/prospect. You can't ignore new clients or fan club members.PJ_Soul said:

I feel that I have proven over a 16 year period that I am a loyal fan by seeing 76 shows with an average distance from my home of 400 miles per show, along with buying 100's of shirts, posters, vinyl, boots, etc... I feel like I deserve a better shot at tickets than someone who joined in 2013, who may never see another show.
I am not asking that I get every show I want, but I feel like I deserve better than getting my only ticket as my 10th f'n priority draw.
Some argue that folks who see a lot of shows are spoiled. Who deserves a ticket more, someone who travels the world to see them regardless of where they go, or the fan that is only willing to see them when convenient?
Again, we are talking fan club tickets here. I feel like those that are willing to go great lengths to see a show deserve them more than the crowd who will see a show if only in their backyard. I get that some can't afford to travel, but a lot is based on choice and priorities

Not spoiled. Never have seen this many people EVERY TOUR think that they are entitled to so much. "Ive been a fan longer than you wha my number is from 1995 I should have tickets". That is definitely spoiled. I'm just happy they still give us a chance. This is so entertaining every time they come around. I don't think I should be able to join DMB's fan club and get tickets ahead of someone who has supported the band and club religiously for over a decade. I am not saying they should get every show they want, but they should get first crack at one show before I get a try.rgambs said:i havnt seen any of the "senior members" address the increase in ticket demand coupled with shorter tours...just selfish complaints about how they used to score

All I am saying is that loyalty (better term than seniority) should count, but that is probably impossible to measure.
You mention that the senior fans are entitled. If anything, it is the new fan that has a worse feeling of entitlement as the senior fan can at least say they've supported the bad longer.
Settle down. It is a fun debate. No one is going to be shut out of a show if they want to go.

I'm totally calm this wasn't even geared towards you but you took it and ran with it. We're all fans it doesn't matter if it's for 20 years or 20 days. The bitching and complaining has gone on just about every tour. I have been a member for the long haul and have been shut down many of times. Who gives a fuck. I can be swinging from the rafters and as long as it's pearl jam I'm cool just being there. I understand that. I think the issue of seniority being applied to accessing tickets is a newer discussion, and mostly has occurred post-lottery in part due to smaller tours creating higher demand.inmyohiotree said:bootlegger10 said:

Up until 2011 it was pretty easy to get tickets to the shows you wanted except for the shows in the northeast. Seniority still felt like it mattered as you could get great seats within a few rows on the floor. Post 2011, seniority is almost meaningless so it frustrates a lot of folks because the band thought seniority was important for a long time and we reciprocated by paying our fees each year and buying up merch.
We all understood no one is guaranteed tickets, but it is more of a recent phenomenon that a lot of fans are getting rejected so there is frustration. It is not unreasonable to question whether seniority should matter again and if it should be factored into getting tickets.0 -
I see your point but these discussions were happening in 2011 also. My point was that the bitching has been going on since the 90s. Someone has complained about every way Ten club had tried to do this. Most normal people cannot sit In front of the computer In the middle of the week so this is what they came up with. Does it suck for some sure but gives more people a fighting chance. This forum is just a small portion of ten club members. More people get tickets then those who get shut out. What I don't get is is it my fault that I was too young in the 90s to go to shows and know about a fan club is why should a fan such as my self not that the same chance at tickets that someone that has been a member since day 1, I'm 28 years old I've been a fan since the start I just didn't have parents that would take me to shows as a child etc..
I also wasn't aware of the fan club for whatever reason till later on
But I've been a member now atleast 6 to 7 years I first saw them in 06 and have seen them 13 times since with my girlfriend who is also a big fan
We have never been within the first 5 rows, we won ga tickets this time around and finally have that chance and are traveling from Brooklyn ny to 4 dates on this tour
You might not say you are spoiled but thinking you are entitled to anything no matter how much money you put into the band makes you come off spoiled, as someone else said this is one of the most equal ways to do things, no one should be more entitled to a ticket
Seniority still matters because I don't even try for seats anymore because I know my number won't do me justice with reserved so Seniority gets you that advantage that you will have a great seat or ga0 -

Oh, and since mcgruff10 mentioned it, GA YEEEESSS!!! Love GA - so so fun! And allows so many more people to have the chance to get closer to the action. Praying that PJ never goes back to a seats in front of the stage. Doubt they will because they clearly enjoy the GA crowd in front of them more.
Without GA, even with a lottery, a huge number of 10C members will NEVER get anywhere near the stage because of seniority seating, which doesn't seem fair to me.
Yes! And perhaps I'm just drunk, but I don't see the GA or the lottery going away anytime soon. I think they really do enjoy the extra energy the GA provides &(IMO), sort of sets the tone for the rest of the venue & the entire concert. When you consider the vast age range of PJ fans (which is a huge tribute in itself to me), A lottery with a choice for GA or the closest seats is the only way ensure a fair process while providing the most diverse & energetic GA/overall Concert possible for most everyone.
Prediction: This will be the process at least as long as most of their fans have no problem standing during a concert....& honestly, when or if that is no longer the case, I believe the boys will hang it up.
