Blue Avocado?

I asked one of the sellers on discogs for his "honest" opinion. He told me that avocado sounds pretty good. I love the blue. Looks cool. Would have probably ordered one if my sister hadn't got them. Ill give some feedback as well.0

I have bought the Avocado Duel Blue Vinyl for £30 and £3 shipping. Will report back but they do look awesome. The Cover art is darker as someone else mentioned and it feels glossy and quite thick too. The Discs do look great though.
I thought I'd try it and for £30 it's not going to bankrupt me.
the guy I bought it from is in Barcelona for a week doing a big Record Fair, hopefully he'll pull back some 'real' PJ Vinyl :-)London, England 06-25-2010, Belfast, Northern Ireland 06-23-2010, Berlin, Germany 07-04-2012, Manchester, UK 06-20-2012, Seattle, WA 12-06-2013, Amsterdam, Holland 06-16-2014, Berlin, Germany 06-26-2014, Leeds, UK 07-08-2014, Milton Keynes, UK 07-11-2014, New York MSG 1 & 2

I would say the bidders on ebay don't know they are on discogs or don't know about discogs0

Why? Pop in the cd, it'll sound way better. Vinyl record can hold about 22 minutes per side without the quality suffering too much.PJ_Soul said:Know what would sell me on a bootleg? Turning a double LP into a single. I'd love to have Binaural, riot act, and avocado on just one disc.

I think the blue bootleg is pretty cool.
I don't have 400 for an official so why not0 -
Omg, there's a fella named neon handshake on discogs that regularly lists PJ vinyl for ridiculously high prices. Welp, now has the blue avocado for $499.99 canadian!

Got the blue Avocado and the white Yield a couple of days ago and compared them to the originals (I already wrote some stuff about the copies in another thread: http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/231863/ever-saw-one-of-these-vinyls):
"Today I received the records and I just wanted to give you a quick update on the quality. I have got both, the original vinyls and the replicas and especially the avocado looks very cool. They are brand new, the booklet looks exactly like the original just the cardboard of the gatefold cover is a bit thinner and more glossy. The Yield record's sleve is a bit glossier, too. It also seems they are both a bit darker than the originals and some of the fonts are not exactly identical. But almost. The print quality is not as good as the real deal though and the sleeves feel cheaper in general.
The records look amazing, especially the sparkly blue self titled.
In terms of sound I can say that somebody did a pretty damn good job. I am using a Technics 1210mkII with an Ortofon 2m Blue cartridge on pretty decent amp with great speakers and I know my system. Apparently they took the CD-Masters the originals sound a tiny little bit more open and dynamic than the copies but still they sound extremely nice and I didn't stumble upon any pops or clicks.
Yes, I prefer the real deal, too and instead of paying over 100 bucks for one of these new pressings (which is what they go for on ebay already), it might be better to wait for a nice deal on an original or even for an official repress. If you can get one for a decent price, buy it, it's definitely the work of somebody who knows what they are doing. (and maybe even someone who is a pearl jam fan...:))"

Played my Blue Avocado vinyl and I have to say it really does sound great, tight, clean basically as you would expect a decent piece of vinyl to sound.
As above I'm on a pretty good system, yes maybe the original would sound that little bit better but as it stands it would also cost six or seven times as much.
Yes I want the original as I do with all PJ vinyl, but this fills a gap for now and it's a bloody good gap filler......if you see it for reasonable money pick one up.....maybe PJ will see this and start to re-issue and please us all!!!London, England 06-25-2010, Belfast, Northern Ireland 06-23-2010, Berlin, Germany 07-04-2012, Manchester, UK 06-20-2012, Seattle, WA 12-06-2013, Amsterdam, Holland 06-16-2014, Berlin, Germany 06-26-2014, Leeds, UK 07-08-2014, Milton Keynes, UK 07-11-2014, New York MSG 1 & 2

Whats the difference between an illegal counterfeit and a bootleg? I always thought the term "bootleg" referred to live recordings.
Are these illegal? just wondering... just like people that buy and wear counterfeit merchandise, i am sure many will love it.

Nevermind... I just found a good explanation:
"The difference between pirated music and counterfeits lies in the way it is presented to the public.
If the label of the media or cover is made to resemble the original as close as possible and thereby deceive the public, it is a counterfeit copy. Usually therefore the cover is made to resemble the original as the cover is usually what is first observed by the public and not the media. In relation to counterfeit music the sound recordings illegally copied onto the disc will almost always be the same as those on the original disc in order to resemble it as close as possible.
If the label of the media or cover doesn't resemble the original or no such original album exists (as it is a compilation of sound recordings of different albums) it is referred to as a pirate copy. In relation to the illegally copied sound recordings it may be the same as that of an original album or may be a compilation of sound recordings from different albums."
So I guess these fall as a Pirate/Counterfeit Album0 -

I agree with the counterfeit description. It's pretty much a replica of an original aside from the color of the vinyl. I don't understand the appeal of buying this stuff myself. If it's not sourced from the original masters it's just crap. This stuff is just getting out of hand. In the last couple of weeks I've seen Led Zeppelin II and IV, the first Mercyful Fate EP, and the first Rage Against the Machine all countefeited on colored vinyl. All "imports" from Holland. If people are looking for the supposed magical experience of having these overpriced and over hyped $300 original records to play and are tempted to buy these counterfeits, let me make a suggestion. Put a record on your turntable. Any record it doesn't matter which one. Put in the shittiest pair of headphones you can find and push play on Avocado on your iPod. You will have the same listening experience and you won't be supporting counterfeiting. Now I'm going to put on my Rolexx and go Xerox some Rembrandts at Kinko's. I have some holes in my art collection I need to fill.0

Do you have one of these colored vinyl records? How do you know the quality?Guy Dudebro said:I agree with the counterfeit description. The sound quality is irrelevant to me. I don't care if these records sound like the band is playing live in my living room. I don't condone counterfeiting and I guess I just don't get the desparation to hear this stuff on vinyl. I honestly believe that people convince themselves that a $300 record sounds better than a $10 one.0

Your argument is conflicting. If a fan can get a high quality record for cheap, one that the band won't rerelease, then why does that make someone desperate? If you have vinyl then you know the cost. The fact you don't understand why people would consider a high quality boot, when the rerelease is still unavailable, is well beyond me. I'm here for the music.Guy Dudebro said:The sound quality is irrelevant to me. I don't care if these records sound like the band is playing live in my living room. I believe a high quality counterfeit is just that. Not as good as an original and fake. I don't get the appeal. Maybe my desparation comment was off base but when I saw an Avocado that sold locally for $200 that was generously graded VG++/VG++ ( the cover had two bent corners and the vinyl was VG at best) it's just puzzling to me that that kind of money gets thrown around for junk. The same reason I can't understand why people would knowingly buy counterfeits regardless of the quality. The confusion comes in with other bands and other pressings. We all know what these PJ pressings are. When collecting other stuff you really have to pay attention. It makes me sick when people get duped.0

i kinda want one just to look at, but I hate supporting counterfeit/pirated items.0
