Wow. That's a cool looking Bleach vinyl. Was it some kind of edition? I got the 20th anniversary reissue back in 2009 and it's in white vinyl.

I agree Earl, such a fresh voice when this came out back at the start of the 2000's, a lot of good humour with this too.

Limited edition reissue, numbered, on 180gram green wax.

A very underrated Bowie album imo, so many good songs on this including the great 'New Killer Star'.

Question for vinyl experts, how do you know when you needle/cartridge needs to be replaced? I probably have a player towards the bottom end of players and just like listening.

Good hunting to all this weekend.

Just got my TMR elephant singles box set. This thing is gorgeous! They finally got smart and sent it open with no cellophane.

I'm not an expert, but I've been told by experts that you shouldn't wait until there are signs (I.e. background noise) to replace your needle, because are that point you're already doing damage to your records. Replace it before that. I've heard you should do it preemptively after about 600 hours of play time. Also heard once a year (for those who use their turntable a lot).

Theoretically, you should never have to replace your cartridge assuming you didn't break it. I think upgrading is a better way of looking at it. If you're happy with the sound with a new needle, no need to replace. If you think the sound could be better, buy a better one.

Here are some pickups from the record show in Ann Arbor: (most likely the same one jlaustin attended)

Mostly jazz, with the exception of Queen and The Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome soundtrack. A lot of Jimmy Smith and Wes Montgomery albums, some Japanese pressings. All the vinyl is mint, stored in mo-fi bags.

Such a fun day at Record Store Day today &&& I scored the only REM Unplugged set at the 2 shops I went to!! So stoked to get that. I'd npt been sure if we'd see it at all down here in NZ so YAYYY!! :-D I'd also hoped to get The Velvet Underground Loaded re-issue but missed out on it unfortunately. :-(

Also picked up non RSD The White Stripes 1st album on vinyl. I realised the other day I don't have it, went into a record shop today & there it was on vinyl so it was just meant to be obviously!!.

Now waiting for Uncle Neil's RSD releases whenever they come out later in the year...........
