Yup, seems like he's the real deal.... and maybe even proud of it.

Which is better than harboring those beliefs, but lying to everyone about it. I think it is better to be honest, than dishonest.
I also believe it is better to have an open acceptance towards people and give them the benefit of proving themselves as individual humans, than to close the door on millions of people due to fears of stereo-typed characterizations of a whole class of humans.
So, i suppose, i would rather have someone be a homophobe and open about it... rather than a homophobe that is lying to me. It's nice to know who you are dealing with and where they are coming from.
    But, that's just me.

old school jesse ventura walks into a bar in some bullshit hick town in arizona
he asks the guy behind the bar for a cold one
the bartender looks in amazement at the boa wearing feminine-beefcake looking weirdo & says
nope, we don't serve homosexuals because it's our right
jesse body slams the idiot bartender (it's my right to beat your stupid ass too)
slaps the guy stupid & rips a keg out of the bar with his barehands
& strolls out of the bar with keg on shoulder
where seven women follow jesse home
just then the navy seal commander for jesse's seal team calls
& jesse saves the world again while dressed like a flaming beefcake showgirl

    moral to the story

Well you have a point.... It's nice to know exactly what you're dealing with. But in the end I don't really care either way. A homophobe's a homophobe. I'm not going to give kudos to a bigot just because he admitted he is one.

Something else I really don't like about this law is the way it tries to shield itself behind the First Amendment right to Freedom of Religion.
We are granted the birthright to choose to practice whatever religion we want. It does not give us the right to impose our religion on others.
    ...
And I don't get the whole religion apect being argued by the law's proponents. I thought Christians followed the New Testament of Jesus Christ. Sure, they follow the old Testament... but, still find time to disregard parts they don't agree with... like working on Sunday... or eating bacon. If you are going to cite Leviticus as your justification... why don't you follow ALL the laws in Leviticus?

As expected, the bill was vetoed by Gov. Brewer. The last thing she wanted was more grief caused by the extremists on the Right Wing.
    ...
Also, I am ALL for protecting religious freedom in America. I am completely opposed to using religion and an excuse to exclude Americans from participating in America.

i like the people who say "the bible sez its adam and eve, not adam and steve...." you ask what book that is in and they tell you its in the old testament. they are against homosexuality, but they have no issue with lot shagging his daughter.

And what about Adam and Eve? They had 3 sons... Cain, Abel and Seth. Where did THEIR kids come from?
If Eve was the only woman... doesn't it mean incest?

is a persons honest opinion what makes them a bigot or racist ?

If their opinion happens to be bigoted, or racist, then yes.

homophobe ? that means "fear of gay people" ? there is no fear involved at all ,if you don't like eating corn on the cob would that make you a cornophobe ? gay's (men and women) are just not the circle of people I hang with or want to hang with and has nothing to do with fear it's a personal choice, are there people you don't have in your circle of friends for what ever reason that has nothing to do with fear ? it does not mean I wish any bad upon them and besides the article stated that it did not mention gay's but they assumed it so now are the people assuming this called "hedrophobes" because they are affraid of straight people ?...homophobe is a word that is misused around here my friend,it's almost like a last great attempt at getting in the last word to end a debate. at the end of the day all is well.

you really don't see how absurd your viewpoint is?

you could be talking to gay people here and you wouldn't even know it ... you're being called a homophobe because you are choosing to alienate yourself from that population base because of their sexual orientation ...

I think someone can disagree with someone's orientation without being a bigot. It can be a "just not my thing" without being malicious.

I'm not attracted to men, I like women. I don't see why a man would attract another man. But I also don't care if two guys love each other and want to get married. It does not affect me. I say go for it.

I have bigger fish to fry and other things to worry about. People simply need to mind their own business and not concern themselves with what others do as long as nobody is being harmed.

Those that cry about the religious aspect and it being a "sin" are in no position to judge. Ultimately, if you are a believer, judgement is not in your hands. Leave people alone.

what word would you use instead of homophobe? sexual orientationist?
    it's got no ring.
disagreement is fine, but "I won't be around them" is hated rooted in fear.

Right on but I have to share a Morgan Freeman quote that sums up my feelings on homophobes...

"I hate the word homophobia. It's not a phobia. You are not scared. You are an asshole."

i think they are scared. i think a few are scared because they are simple, and they fear all things they don't understand.
I think most are scared that someone might discover they have the normal amount of homosexually oriented thoughts and feelings buried deep. (guess what guys, it's ok, it's normal..you can relax!)
great quote though! the asshole part of the equation is exponentially greater than the fear.
