No offense, but I disagree with just about your entire premise other than Brady has had the edge with coaching.DewieCox said:
It's simple. Brady has had better complete teams around him. Good, not great skill players on offense, good offensive lines, good sometimes great defenses and always a great gameplan. Look what the Pats have done since Billy B's ego has taken control...a couple SB losses to a team not in the same realm as that Seahawks team we saw last night.Ledbetterman10 said:
I'll never understand this "Brady had better teams" argument. Manning's teams have had at least 10 wins every year since 2002 (except that year he was injured). Obviously those were all good teams packed with playmakers on both sides of the ball. From 2003-2009, Manning's Colts teams had at least 12 wins a year. That's not ALL him. And I'm a Dolphins fan that can't stand Brady. But come on...
Manning has had Harrison, Wayne and James and then a bunch of scrubs he's made into studs. On the other side of the ball, they were built to defend against a trailing team, so when that didn't happen they were screwed. Freeney, Mathis and Sanders(for a couple years) were/are great, but again, there's a big dropoff in talent.www.myspace.com0 -
There isn't an NFL game for 7 months. I want to cry.0

You're not excited for the endless draft speculation, followed by 4 months of non stories made up to keep the NFL in the headlines?Indifference71 said:There isn't an NFL game for 7 months. I want to cry.
I usually feel the same way the day after the SB, but I've learned that sports media has a way with making me sick of it before too long.
The MLB and NBA off seasons feel shorter b/c they don't have non stories getting forced into the news. The NFL does "great" job of hogging the sports media throughout the year.0 -

Ha, not exactly. I'll pay attention to the draft and free agency but that's about it. The rest of it just a bunch of nonsense like you said. Just sad that there's no football to watch and gamble on for the next 7 months.0 -
Yeah the degenerate in me misses the gambling. I do not generally gamble on hockey/baseball...the other 2 spots that I watch the shit out of.
Hoping week 1 is SF and Seattle. The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
Interesting to see the Incognito / Martin texts come out ... it reads like they were pretty friendly with each other. The texts were what I would expect from O-linemen ... crude. And they both like Puss.

I think it took a lot of guts, and I hope things work out for the guy. With the macho culture in football, and asshats like Incognito, I think there is a good chance that there are locker rooms which will be less welcoming than others. So it was probably a smart move by Sam - full disclosure to the teams who might be interested in drafting him. I'm sure every team will say that it is not an issue, but I'm betting there are teams that will now think twice, and that's probably good for Sam. On a personal level I couldn't care less about his sexuality. If the guy is a good player, and a good fit for the team, then I only care about his performance on the field and his behavior in the community.eeriepadave said:any opinions on Michael Sam coming out? anyone care?

I agree, my feelings on the situation. In fact if the Patriots get a chance to draft him I hope they do. He looks like he's a player....well at least he's wearing in college a HOFer linebacker number in 52.

I believe this is tweet from a Vandy QB that has been in the highlights they keep showing of Sam

If anyone misses watching me play turn on ESPN. I think I've been sacked by Michael Sam over 150 times in the last few hours..)
I think it's great for him but I'm already tired of hearing about it because just like with any hot news topic, it gets crammed down my throat.Post edited by JK_Livin onAlright, alright, alright!

I'd really only care about if he could get my team 8-10 sacks and stop the run, we need it...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0

I wouldn't want my team to draft a huge distraction that I fear the first openly gay player will prove to be but I have no issues with him being gay, being in a football game or rooting for him.
I will root for him no matter what team he goes to if he continues to handle himself like he has thus far -- seems like a brave guy to stand up and be the poster child for a lot of douchebag hate.
A lot of pressure to stand up to, I hope he does well so that this can become more of a non-issue moving forward. The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -
Amazing how much of an issue this is being made of. ESPN has been beating the drums and doing seances for years for gay people to come out in sports so I guess this is a watershed moment for them. I'm so happy for ESPN.
The bigger issue should be on how well he can read the playaction or stuff the 2-gap.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -

so a few guys are afraid that a gay dude might look at their junk in the shower. big fucking deal. as an athlete you shower with naked dudes all the time. these guys have probably showered with many closeted gay guys their whole athletic lives. just cover yourself if you are that concerned about it. it is not like the guy is going to see it and start immediately masturbating to it or something."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I think it's pretty crazy to think that this is just about football, especially when GMs are saying that the NFL isn't ready for a gay player. For you and most other fans who aren't bigots, sure, it is just about football, but it's pretty naive to think that this is all just about how he can read an offense and get to the qb in the bigge rpicture. It is also a pretty huge moment for a pretty huge group of people.Jason P said:Amazing how much of an issue this is being made of. i wish we can just fast forward past these awkward times that lie ahead and get to the point where this isn't a big deal. that will be a long time ahead, unfortunately. so far, at least, you have to be encouraged by the initial reactions though.Post edited by The Juggler onwww.myspace.com0 -
