When we crossed back to the US, we are both American citizens we were asked for our IDs and proof of citizenship and that's was it, off we went back into the US with no hassle at all....
I dont know about foreigners with DUIs going into the US though.
ohh, thanks, good to know!

that was the same as i got...
it is always worth asking and outlining the situation, but a shame that they are so harsh on enforcing it, when you have a legitimate reason for not being able to attend. They could then sell the tickets to another member.
I am hoping that there were not 2 empty front row seats at the DC show that i missed!!We are sorry you were unable to attend the show. All ticket sales are final.

That does sound very odd. I mean what would the guard expect you do to live out the rest of your life in Canada, never returning to your home country?0 -
Imagine having to get a band you work for and the tour bus across. Never been into Canada but my bus driver has horror stories with a band that is huge in "pop" music now and a crew member was detained bc they thought he was "high"...Long story short, the crew guy was sober and had his name mixed up, after 72 hours, he was released back to the US when this band was on a 4 week canadian tour...Live Life Exactly How You Picture It.0

So you are telling me that since the 10c is off for the week-end and didn't respond to YOUR situation that you can start this bash on MY country and place blame on pretty much everyone but yourself...and then they send you a letter that states what EVERYONE knew in the first place and what you knew when you bought the tickts and now you feel better!! WOW!!
Maybe what you should have done was taken responsibilty for YOUR OWN ACTIONS and not put this ridiculous post up!!
Maybe your next post should be an apology to the 10c for all this bitching you started and an apology to all the Canadians on this site you offended!! And if not then I hope you do drop your 10c membership and I hope you never try to come back to our beautiful country because we don't want people like you here anyway!!!!!

Agreed. As frustrating as the situation might have been, it is not the fan club's responsibility to transfer tickets the day of the show for an unforseen border crossing issue. Not to put you on the couch but I think you are just pissed you missed the show and you need someone to blame to let out your frustration. I'd probably do the same thing in your situation; however, I might also keep in mind that my 10C membership has gotten me front row seats on two occasions and that they really do everything they humanly can to help members. So true on my account a few years ago. We entered Canada north of Havre, MT and were treated extremely well. The agents asked their questions, we answered them to their satisfaction, and they wished us a great visit.
Upon returning to the US, further west (much bigger entry station, but I cant remember the closest Montana city for reference) Big Bad Bertha treated us like we had a disease. I had my wife and two kids with me and Bertha asked my children, who were in the back seat of the car : "Who are these people you are riding with?" Now I got some pretty smart kids, so my son answered "Dave and Michelle" (with my last name of course) INSTEAD of "my mom and dad". We even had their birth certificates and our drivers licenses, as we didnt need pass ports at that date. Bertha took her own sweet time deciding we werent abducting little Canucks and then had the balls to ask me if I was importing anything else! Yeah lady, check my pants for that illegal pineapple, fer cryin out loud!"...would you like some forks?" EV 12-02-060 -

My husband and I did not make two shows this summer: Hartford and Mansfield because he has Chrone's disease and ended up in the hospital that weekend. We lost $300 worth of shows plus our transportation cost. I just accepted it as a lost and am happy that my husband is healthy again. Mike would be able to relate!0

oldfannewposter wrote:So, we go to the border Friday to spend the evening before Saturday's show. I had a DWI about 6 years ago, as did my girlfriend. I understand that is not anyone else's problem. But just listen...
They pull us over, rifle through the car, detain us at the border for like 2 hours... and then come out and let us know that we were not allowed into Canada because we both had DWI's in the last 10 years. Neither of us even drink anymore. It created so many problems back then, and that was evidence that it can continue to haunt you.
With that being said, I called the 10C and left a message regarding the loss of the tickets... asked to be able to give a name of someone who could have at least USED the tickets to the show. No call back, no email response, nothing.
It isn;t their fault but, due to their "policies" (which aim to stop scalping, yet scalpers have more than enough TM tickets to scalp), I will not be buying 10C tickets anymore. I won;t renew my membership either. I had no idea that Canada treated DWI like this. I have never been to Canada. I read about what you need to cross the border and what to expect, but it said nothing of DWI. It really shocked me and still does.
So, thanks for reading and, yes, it's my fault I had a DWI, but it's the 10C's fault I ate $180 fucking dollars (instead of at least having someone USE the tickets). I mean, make a concession and give me a tshirt or something from the merch section. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. No flexibility, totally rigid regulations, and no common sense or empathy for anyone. Yet we make this whole thing roll (the fans).
Change your policy. You are screwing people left and right, in and out of Canada. Life gets in the way sometimes. There are family emergencies (not in my case, but I've read about some in the past and it's "Oh well, too bad, no refunds, returns, exchanges for ANY REASON!). No one should have to worry about their tickets when other things are important. You would think they'd use a case by case basis for determining refunds by now. I've read 100's of stories on here that seem legit and the only one that ever was rectified was a guy who felt his "seats weren;t good enough". Give me a break. I hope the 10C can continue to operate now that my $180 dollars (half a weeks work) has enabled them to stay open for business.10-26-91 Cleveland

Break the law, can't enter another country...that's how life is.
You know, last time the hubby and I went to Seattle, we were given the 3rd degree at the border. We were going to FTM and they wanted to know why Canadians would be supporting a US charity. Did we know people there? Were we going to call them? Have we ever been finger printed? Have we ever been charged with a crime? What is this event you're going to? Crohn's Disease? Is there no Canadian equivalent charity? What do you do for a living? Are you going to work in the US? Shut your vehicle off please. Are you bringing anything into the United States? Did anyone ask you to bring anything into the United States? Have you ever been arrested? Crohn's Disease? Where do you work? How long will you be in the US? Are we meeting anyone in the US? Where do you work? Then the guy went around and tapped on all the panels of our SUV. Had to roll down all the windows. They went through our bags. Can I see your tickets? (which we were picking up at the venue). Crohn's Disease? Where do you work? How long in the US? How often have you been to the US in the past two years? Have a nice day...you can go...
Yikes! I've had to show tickets for the Bridge and for last year's Bumbershoot. However, because I am on medications I could be denied entry because of my medical condition. Things have toughened up quite a bit both ways thanks to the US. yay...be philanthropic0 -

I can't believe they treated you so bad :( (well I actually can because my husband and I were treated really bad at the Canadian border too)..
As I had stated before Canada, the US and any other country can have whatever laws to keep from going in, they can even have no reason and refuse you entry, but what bothers me is that they have to be such assholes about it (on both sides), the people that work at the border (not all of them of course) go on this super power trips because they have the final say inside that little office and they act like total dicks/bitches.
I'm still counting my lucky stars that the guy decided to let us in even though we had to pay $200 to get in, but I still don't know why he had to treat me (with a clean record) and my husband with a DUI when he was 21 (10 years ago) like we were convicted car thieves or something
I wonder how going into Canada works when you are flying in rather than driving, is it the same? If you have a DUI then they turn you around and you have to fly back?"Without the album covers, where do you clean your pot?" - EV0
