Sorry to hear you had problems w/ border patrol.
But to blame 10 club for not coming to your aid in times of desperation, is not really reasonable!! Really, 10 club is doing its job, they've never claimed to be anything other than a fan club BUSINESS. Asking them for something in return is not only ballsy, but unreal. The rules are stated the minute we all agree to buy tickets. They're not redeemable, transferable, refundable, etc. etc. They have to do this as a business, they're covering their ass! So, really this is ridiculous, sorry.
I really am sorry about your border situation, I disagree that you can't get through because of a mistake you made in the past. It all depends on the person at the gate, what mood they're in, and the reasons you state for entering the country. That sucks that it happened!0 -

in my opinion yes, the death penalty should be re-instated.
Especially for 10club members who have dui's on their record and
are refused entry to see an Ed Vedder concert.we're all sentient snowflakes

You are mad at the 10C because they didnt call you back??? You feel as if you should be credited??? LOL
At no time did you think you should check into policy on entering a new country, maybe check out the border rules?
Bad choices hount for a long time.oldfannewposter wrote:So, we go to the border Friday to spend the evening before Saturday's show. I had a DWI about 6 years ago, as did my girlfriend. I understand that is not anyone else's problem. But just listen...
They pull us over, rifle through the car, detain us at the border for like 2 hours... and then come out and let us know that we were not allowed into Canada because we both had DWI's in the last 10 years. Neither of us even drink anymore. It created so many problems back then, and that was evidence that it can continue to haunt you.
With that being said, I called the 10C and left a message regarding the loss of the tickets... asked to be able to give a name of someone who could have at least USED the tickets to the show. No call back, no email response, nothing.
It isn;t their fault but, due to their "policies" (which aim to stop scalping, yet scalpers have more than enough TM tickets to scalp), I will not be buying 10C tickets anymore. I won;t renew my membership either. I had no idea that Canada treated DWI like this. I have never been to Canada. I read about what you need to cross the border and what to expect, but it said nothing of DWI. It really shocked me and still does.
So, thanks for reading and, yes, it's my fault I had a DWI, but it's the 10C's fault I ate $180 fucking dollars. I mean, make a concession and give me a tshirt or something from the merch section. The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. No flexibility, totally rigid regulations, and no common sense or empathy for anyone. Yet we make this whole thing roll (the fans).
Change your policy. You are screwing people left and right, in and out of Canada. Life gets in the way sometimes. There are family emergencies (not in my case, but I've read about some in the past and it's "Oh well, too bad, no refunds, returns, exchanges for ANY REASON!). No one should have to worry about their tickets when other things are important. You would think they'd use a case by case basis for determining refunds by now. I've read 100's of stories on here that seem legit and the only one that ever was rectified was a guy who felt his "seats weren;t good enough". Give me a break. I hope the 10C can continue to operate now that my $180 dollars (half a weeks work) has enabled them to stay open for business.A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. this just might be the greatest thread ever.moses-i wrote:Quite frankly I am disgusted by the seemingly right wing comments coming from people on this board. As a Polish immigrant to Canada, I take huge offense to the comment about border guards letting in immigrants. Maybe it was some sort of lame joke, I don't know but I certainly don't count myself among the worst of society and I certainly don't feel that way about my parents and brother. Furthermore, what first hand experience do you have that they are just waving murderers and drug dealers in? They don't just focus on DUIs, this is just one story and I definitely feel for the original poster but it doesn't mean other people are getting through. I know for a fact that there have been several musicians who could not get into Canada from Jamaica ( I listen to a lot of dancehall) because of outstanding gun charges and drug possesion charges. Nonetheless, criminals always find a way in and if you think Canada is so unsafe than you are ridiculously deluded!
In your opinion, maybe we should reinstate the death penalty as well.A pessimist is a man who thinks all women are bad. An optimist is one who hopes they are.0 -
Why is it their job to refund nonrefundable tickets? You bought em knowing full well that you would eat them if for some reason you couldn't make it to the show, end of story.0

I am not blaming the 10C for not getting into Canada. I am blaming myself for not looking into it further, as I stated in my original post. In the same breath, I also said I would have liked to TRANSFER the tickets. Lots of people work on the weekend. I read this board enough to know a thread like this will get fired up, that's fine. Thanks for the feedback and information links so I can make arrangements someday if I need to. Everyone is entited to their own opinion on border matter, as am I.
Also, yes, I had my official documentation in the form of a passport. So did she."One just escapes, one's left inside the well... and he who forgets will be destined to remember"0 -

This issue doesn't involve 10C. You had a DWI, so did your wife. I know they won't let people who have had DWI's into Canada for 10 years and I've never had one. You are saying this is Point A, this is Point B. Reality is you made a mistake, and you paid for it. Sorry for being harsh but its true. You had the DWI and weren't allowed access into Canada. That is your issue and nobody elses.0 -
sorry for your experience at the border - it is well within your right to give up your membership ... that's your perogative however i would caution you making a rash decision ...
let's face it - 10C ain't perfect but for the most part - they do their best and i like my single and access to good seats at shows for my annual membership ...0 -
That story fucked up my good mood. WOW. Petition the 10C on this guys behalf. I'll sign.0

Ok you said you were crossing to come to the Montreal show?
Did it ever occur to you that the reason 10C didn't get back to you was that it was the fucking WEEKEND!!!
They don't work 7 days a week you know...they shut down on the weekends just like any other office. If this had been a weekday show, maybe they might have gotten back to you...but don't get pissy cause nobody was there on their day off ok!!"Rock and roll is something that can't be quantified, sometimes it's not even something you hear, but FEEL!" - Bob Lefsetz0 -

Petition...PETITION!! What exactly are you petitioning about? This is not 10C's fault or problem. Maybe they should just chaulk up the experience as another reason to never drive drunk again!1998 – Barrie, Molson Park

Canada along with many other countries does not allow convicted fellons into the country. Last time I checked, a DWI conviction is a felony against you....its not specific to DWI, its specific to having a felony on your record..Gorge0
