  • I am confused OP can you please explain to me exactly what this "GA LIST" is? I am going to my first shows on the 23rd and the 24th, won GA for the 24th and am planning on heading out to the venue to wait at 5am, does this mean someone can just cut in front of me? or what..... I am confused, please someone get back to me :(

If you get there at 5am and you stay there then not a soul can get in front of you!

OK, looks like we've solved this. Majority rules.
This notebook and numbers on hands no longer carries any weight. It's been said.

So if you're in line and someone shows you a number or a name in a notebook- tell them to fuck off.

    Glad we figured this out.

I am curious how crowded it is at the back of the pit during the show. When I saw Springsteen last year from the pit, I was at the back and had an awesome view and more room than I knew what to do with. Is the the case with the PJ pit? I could care less about being on the rail and will likely show up at 7:30. Any help with this would be awesome.

    Thanks!

BTW, that list/notebook thing is the lamest thing I have heard of. You want the rail, you wait, or at least someone in your party holds a space for you.

I would estimate the pit is half to 3/4 full...always plenty of room at the back of pit.

Go back left on Mike's side. He slings tons of picks in that direction. In Charlottesville he was in the crowd back there.

You want to see how a real GA works. Go to a show in South America! No Notebooks, no lines, start whining...no one cares! It's survival of the fittest and if you want the rail...Earn it!
What a bunch of softies people have become here. What next Pizza Delivery to your spot on the rail that you put your name in a note book for?

Not to start trouble but at Terminal 5 the other night for Gary Clark Jr and beer lady came between each of the openers and then before Gary came on to sell beer to the rail.
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.

    Sidebar:

I actually had pizza delivered while waiting in line for the first Arising show from The Smashing Pumpkins in Detroit in 1999...Camped out all night with a friend to make sure we were first in line, next people showed up at 8am and were like "damn, thought we would be first." Those people have become great friends since then.

If you're not shooting to be on the rail and just want to arrive whenever without worrying about where you end up in the pit, don't bother with the list. It only really matters for the first 40-50 people who arrive in line.

Actually, this is a very important but overlooked fact.

How about a system where 50 GA tickets are granted a 5 minute early admission. Done. I don't know what the mechanism is to hand out those 50 tickets, whether it is a line, a higher priced ticket, or a lottery, but it seems then you pretty much eliminate the line. I mean people aren't waiting in a line all day to be number 275 and 4 rows back, are they? If not, then like Suziemay said, it only matters for the first 50 or so anyway.

Kat/Sea, I guess you can lock this thread now the it has been declared over and there is to be no more discussion.

This sounds great until some jerk sneaks his friends into life in front of you.

Then you wish you had a number on your hand and they didn't.

Unless someone arrives to meet their partner/ticket holder in line who has already been there waiting, number or not, anyone else who tries to get in line in front of me who wasn't there before will NOT succeed.

I still have no fucking clue what this thread is about. I'll be in GA for Portland & Spokane. We'll walk in when we walk in & get as close as possible without cutting. Sounds good to me! :D Been to plenty of GA shows in my life to know where to find a decent spot.

Horos---don't stand in front of me! :D:D
