EdsonNascimento wrote:You are so far off base it's scary. I had someone that traded my 10C reserved spare for his 10C GA. Very cool guy. Did he get richer? I guess you would say I did. Well, yes - especially since I made a new friend. As others have described - there is nothing wrong with having/making friends. There's nothing unfair or nefarious (exploiting? Really?) about that. Everyone does have equal access to tix now. Even with the F5 process once you had tix, you could do the same thing. Hey, I'm an F5 supporter, but what you are suggesting is apples and watermelons.
Sell only singles? Yowzers. So, you're suggesting folks can't bring friends. Yikes. I think you need to rethink your thought process.
So because of one exception you experienced, you are arguing that the spare GA ticket isn't a tremendous bargaining chip that people use for selfish reasons? I suggest you reread my post, where I do NOT say that they should sell only singles, I say exactly:MG79478 wrote:The only way to keep GA tickets and be fair is to sell only singles, or print names on tickets the day of purchase.
Which says first and foremost that they should do away with GA, but the only way to keep GA and be fair is to sell pairs to those who know who they are taking on the date they go on sale, or singles if you can't commit. There are plenty of people to fill GA who can commit to who they want to take to GA the date they go on sale. Of course a superior option would be to eliminate GA altogether.
You are the one talking apples and watermelons because there weren't GA tickets under F5. You also completely missed the point. This board is filled with hypocrites, when the system doesn’t benefit them, they complain. When the system benefits them, there is nothing wrong with it… even if they are now doing what they previously spoke out against. All I’ve ever asked for is consistency, whether it benefits me or not.0 -
Suziemay wrote:You don't know me and you have no idea what my obligations are. You are assuming you have far more than I do. If your takeaway from my post was that I have an "advantage" because I have managed to form good relationships with Pearl Jam fans, then you and I have nothing to talk about.
The only assumption here was that you assumed I was talking about you specifically, which I obviously wasn't.
So you don't believe you have an advantage that others do not have??? Because it's pretty obvious you do. Others don't do what you do, because they choose not to, that is not your fault. As I said in my previous post, "you exploited the current system; I actually applaud you for that".
I simply threw out the same lame anti-F5 arguments we've heard for months about why your advantage is unfair, to point out how hypocritical many on this board are, depending on whether or not they are benefiting from the situation or not. It's funny that people don't truly want fairness; they just want to talk about fairness to get something that benefits them. If people TRULY wanted fairness, they would have been up in arms about how one person could get so many GA tickets, while others had none. But the truth is that most who frequent this board want to do exactly what you did, make friends, and get more and better tickets. So if the system benefits them, they stop complaining about fairness.0 -
Mamasan Bren wrote:Dear Tim and the 10 Club-
Tim, perhaps you'll recall a long ago conversation I had with you at PJ's Vegas show at the MGM Grand back in '03. As you know, that Riot Act tour allowed fans to better their seat locations based on seniority in ticketed blocks. The earlier you arrived to get your ticket from your seniority block, the better your ticket location would be (most of the time). I arrived super early in the morning the day of that show and waited the whole day. I was one of maybe five people there. Later that day, some other fans returned with a list of names and all cut in front of me based on its supposed authority. There ended up being more than 50 people in front of me by the time it was all said and done. I spoke to you about this and remember you being appalled. You said it was wrong and shouldn't have been allowed to happen.
Flash forward 10 years to today's current Lightning Bolt tour. The decision has been made to return to GA shows. I for one think that is the way that PJ was always meant to be seen, though being anywhere in the building with them is awesome. I like art. I like seeing art museums and exploring all that a city has to offer. Through 10 Club promotions, the club encourages this experience too as PJ tours in awesome cities around the world. I like seeing PJ up close. I can't have both. If I'm an honest person who is made to wait in a GA line all day to see them up close, I unfortunately can't also spend the day seeing a city, and getting to fraternize with other fans. I'd like to shop on South St. in Philly. I'd like to see the sights of NYC, the Experience Music project and Public Market in Seattle, etc. I believe this to be wrong. I know the band and the club are fans of the Boss. Bruce has a system that eliminates the need for fans to waste their whole day in order to see the show up close. U2 also has a system that eliminates it. What we have now is unauthorized fans showing up early to run their own system with creating a list and using magic markers on hands to enforce it. You have some honest fans that truly wait all day. But then you have other fans that use the list to be away from the line for long periods of times. I feel that one should wait to earn what's worth being earned and not be out of line for long periods of times because they once were there and put their name on some list. Enforcing the fairness of this is near impossible. The true fans who are honest with their waiting shouldn't have to try to enforce policing of abusers.
I appeal to you to look into changing this for future tours. I have always been impressed with the intelligence and caring nature that the club handles its many interactions with its fans. I think the fans deserve to have a system in place that allows them to enjoy their day exploring a city rather than sitting on a sidewalk all day.
Sincerely yours,
~Bren 140xxx

What happens if there is more than one "list"?0

Exactly. Go for it. Mead notebook and sharpie and start your own line. Let chaos ensue. The whole list thing is Bu$hleague."Mark it 20, Dude."0 -
I had GA tickets for four shows this tour. Two lottery wins, and I posted for two of those shows that I was looking for GA tickets and people on the board that I had never talked to messaged me. It isn't like I put a lot of effort into it or had connections. I gave up one set of GA to friends so they could experience GA. You help out and get helped out sometimes. That is not exploiting this system.
This list though is ridiculous though if it is allowing people to leave for hours at a time.0 -

Yes single GA tickets are easy to find. So good for you.
Yes people go to the bar and roll up around 5:30 to as late as 6:20...Ms. I'm number 42.
I get the idea. The flaw is not everyone knows. People on this board are learning about it for the first time here or at the shows.
Just go back left on Mikes side. Plenty of picks and he walked in the pit at Charlottesville."Mark it 20, Dude."0 -
This band brings out the best of people and the worst. This middle school list thing is ridiculous, for that matter, waiting in line all day long to be in the rail is pretty ridiculous also.
At Wrigley, even after EV told the crowd multiple times that dangerous weather was coming in and the floor needed to be cleared the entitled fans on the rail would not leave the floor.0 -
I'm glad people are upset with this line/list thing.
While waiting to get into the Charlottesville show I was just so upset about how ridiculous this list was. I got inside and met some cool people that were just so stoked to be on the floor and to be that close that I just enjoyed being with them.
At Charlotte I said screw the line/list and hung out with our friends before the show. We went in around 6:30 and my wife got a rail spot on the side in front of Stone.
I was going to come on here and rant but I just let it go. But then someone started a thread and I see plenty of others feel the way I do."Mark it 20, Dude."0 -
I'd like to see this tried at a Slayer or Motorhead concert. "Hey man, I'm in front of you. I signed the notebook." You want to see how a real GA works. Go to a show in South America! No Notebooks, no lines, start whining...no one cares! It's survival of the fittest and if you want the rail...Earn it!
What a bunch of softies people have become here. What next Pizza Delivery to your spot on the rail that you put your name in a note book for?
