There is a really simple way to fix this and reward long time supporters of the band... ditch GA and go back to reserved seating. But if we must keep the GA section, then simply arrange the line via lottery distributed with your tickets. We've already ruined ticking buying with a lottery, let's ruin venue entry too. Forget the days of putting out effort to achieve something you want... Why not leave the entire PJ experience up to chance?

For reference, I waited in 3 GA lines for leg 1 (Worcester 2, Brooklyn 1 and Brooklyn 2) and also for Wrigley.

How did everyone ignore this? This is a much bigger problem than some stupid notebook. Many people are wishing they had GA ticket problems! How many people got shut out of GA tickets, and this person has seen 4 shows from GA this year? I'm not tring to single them out, I'm sure they aren't the only one.
"This person" saw 5 GA shows this year.

Wrigley: I gave a random stranger on the board my spare PJ20 Alpine tickets. She happen to win Wrigley GA tix and offered her spare to me to repay the favor. I did not ask for it. We are good friends now :)

Buffalo: I had a behind the stage ticket and went to the box office when I arrived to see if there were better tickets. The ticket dude was like, we have tickets on the floor if you don't mind standing. ?!?!?!?!?

Worcester 2: I won the 10c lottery for like the 2nd/3rd round. As far as I know, everyone who entered won. I gave my other GA ticket to a fan who got shut out.

Brooklyn 1: Only Leg 1 show I won the lottery for first time around.

Brooklyn 2: Traded my spare Brooklyn 1 for Brooklyn 2 with a super cool fan that I've traded with before in the past on Lost Dogs.

I'm not sure how this makes me a bad person but somehow you think it's an issue that I found a way to make it happen. I don't have special connections. I try to help fans out when I can, and have been fortunate to benefit from others who do the same. Sometimes from people I've helped out in the past, other times from random strangers. It's a beautiful thing.
  • It actually seems easy to get a spare GA ticket if you are looking for a single.
    "Mark it 20, Dude."
  • Actually number 42 came screaming in around 6:15-6:20 ..."I'm number 42 let me up front". Most people around me, including my wife, were like what they hell is she talking about. True story.
    "Mark it 20, Dude."
  • Going to Glen Hansard here in Gothenburg tonight, did not write myself up on any list :/
"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"
  • Just grab a sharpie and put a number on your hand. Go with 3...more believable than 1.

A trend has started at shows where people withbGA tickets start a notebook and "sign in" and put a number on their hand. Usually about 100-200 seem to know about it. Then most of these people go off and do whatever - typically go to a bar. Then folks that don't know show up at 2-3-4 pm and stand in line. Then some guy with a number 15 on his hand shows up at 5:55pm and goes to the front of the line because he put himself on the "list" that most people don't know about. It's a joke really.

    WOW, this is completely asinine.
  • I had GA for OKC. Before OKC, I had read the whole "the line and the list" thread and if you search my posts, you will see that I am not a fan of it. My girlfriend (photogirlliz on here) hadn't been on the rail ever, and we were determined to get rail by EARNING it. We were concerned about this list and how they were going to handle entry into the arena. So to get around it all, we showed up at 5:45am at the arena and were the first people out there. So when the list got started (it wasn't our idea to start it), it didn't matter how the list ended up working out because no matter what Liz and I were numbers 1 and 2. We sat in front of the entry door all day. No one was going to get in front of us, list or no list.

All I know is that Liz and I waited all day (545am-6:10pm) at the venue in order to get rail. We didn't leave and go to a preparty or bar. We stayed right there. I left to get us lunch, I had a few piss breaks, I walked down to the merch tent for a few minutes. However, at all times, either Liz or I was at that venue because we really wanted the rail. We met some really great people in the line and I would say the first two dozen or so people on that list really earned their spot. They didn't go to the preparty or leave all day only to show up at the last minute. They hung out right around us the whole day. However, I won't say that the list worked that well for people 30+ or so. I know for a fact that some people in the 70s on the list waited a hell of a lot more time outside the venue than some of the people in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. This is absolutely unfair and I really felt bad for them. They deserved to enter the building a little sooner than others.

So I guess my point is if you are concerned about getting rail and this whole "list" thing, get there insanely early and wait it out. If a list gets started, so be it....You will be really high on that list and will get rail anyways. I know that in Dallas, the first guy got at the building at 5am and for OKC we were first and got there at 545am. I feel bad for some of those that actually put in their time and got screwed by the whole list thing. I hope a better system gets in place.

To all the people in OKC that waited along side Liz and I the whole day, congrats on getting the rail...I had a wonderful time with you all. And to the poster who went on a rant about the two kids on the rail in OKC, you can fuck off. Those kids put their time in at the venue that day. They were there almost that entire fucking day and I didn't hear them complain hardly at all. They wanted to be there. They earned their spot and IMO, I feel Eddie's night was made better by their and their parents' presence.
  • I was 5 times in GA this year in Worcester,Philly and Hartford.
Never used the GA line to line up early.
We always went in about 1 h before the shows started and always ended up in 6th- 8th row infront of Stone,Mike and Eddie.
    All shows was great experiences.
The GA section was never as tight or filled in the front like at the shows in Europe last year.
So for me it's only worth to line up early there, if you realy "must" get at the rail.
I prefered the prepartys and to meet up with some great PJ fans there and sharing some beer.
See you all next year in Europe! ;)
  • The people in the know and get on the list think they are civilly organizing chaos. Really it's a "me" game - how close can I get? Can I get a pick or a tambourine? Can I sip wine? But they are really unaware of just how many fans are unaware of this "system". Just stop and talked to the 60-100 people you pass on the way to the front. Most people let it go because we are civil and don't see a need to start crap at what will be a fun show. Let those feel like the accomplished something.

My wife wouldn't let me do the list even if I wanted to based on her unfavorable thoughts about it.
We got close both nights. My wife got side rail one night - no number or list. Hung out with our friends before the show and got there about 6:30. The first night I had such a bad taste in my mouth after the line/list crap but we met some cool people on the floor that were just excited to be that close - maybe 4-5 deep - so I just fed off their enthusiasm.
    "Mark it 20, Dude."
  • Most people do wait the entire time. But I know for a fact 2 guys left the bar after us in Charlottesville and were front and center on the rail that night.

Moral of the story: Give your spare GA to the biggest, badass, motherfo you know and go wait on line. When people try and cut in front of you at 6pm with their numbers that's when you send your badass, motherfo friend to deal with it. ;)

Yeah this crap is going to end badly when said MoFo is not in the loop about the list and people get in front of him.
I get the idea of it....it's just that not everyone knows....that's the flaw.

Noone "ignored" anything. Since when is it a problem for a person to get GA tickets for multiple shows???? It's not like 10C is giving them to certain people like candy at Halloween. If someone has connections/friends, gets lucky with the lottery, or knows how to make deals to acquire GA tickets, then more power to them. There's a reason we refer to this place as the 10 Club community.

..why so much trouble and getting so nervous about all this GA and how it works..?
in europe PJ plays GA 20 + Years, why so much drama about it at states??
i dont get it..and cos i read all the social media fans post and have conversations, there is NO such a big deal how things worked
and seems to me,some people try to find problems, even slightly ones,so just to continue talkin g about an issue..
just go,and enjoy the show..and from what ALL we saw at videos GA at USA shows is so cool, easy,no pushing,no dangerous at all..all worked just fine, and not as WAR ZONE Some tried made it seem, when 10c announce the usa 2013 tour.
and something else..Almost ALL contact me or posting about tix, have a request only
"do u know anyone has GA so i can trade them with my reserved tix?"
its easy to see people want GA,and things working just find..
if the issue is a few cut the line,,yeah right, assholes are everywhere..we knew that before GA show up at usa tour..
 I don't get it either Dimitris. This is just another one of those GA fear mongering threads that needlessly stress out people who will be experiencing GA at a PJ show for the first time. When they all get to the show and the line, feeling all nervous and high strung because of all this silly infantile bullshit on the boards, they are going to all roll their eyes and feel a bit dumb for worrying and allowing these stupid threads to get to them.

Can't wait to show up to the line right before doors open and get a sweet spot on the floor, feeling all refreshed and like I had a productive day, which is well worth being 6 feet further back from those who have supposedly battled all day with hoards of elitist members who jumped the line.

  • I almost traded reserve for GA cause a guy had a boot on his ankles and wanted a seat. But my friends wife also ended up wanting the seat just in case she got tired.

If you have waited all day and someone shows up and says they belong in front of you because of some list, tell them to take their list and shove it up their ass. Take a walk. What the hell are they going to do about it? Call the list police? The problem is that people allow others to do that (cut/walk up) to them. The whole idea of a list is so foolish. If you want in early than you wait. Period.

That's what I was thinking too. Why would anyone just stand there and let this happen to them?? If someone cut in front of me in a line I'd tell them to go fuck themselves. There is no way i'd let it happen. If they want to step into line they can do it behind me if there are any push overs back there who will let them.

Right but their friends feel they are entitled cause they see pj so many times and they have their support network with them. Just typical inconsiderate human behavior. I do call them out. Same thing for saving spots as people did at voodoo.
