  • This thread is nuts.

I can't believe the amount of hatred for Tool, Muse and DMB... but I can understand it.

I can't believe the amount of hatred for U2? Wow. These people obviously never grew up when War, Unforgettable Fire, Joshua Tree, and even Achtung Baby hit the scene. When Madonna and Wang Chung were destroying the airwaves in the 80s... U2 gave normal people hope.

Led Zeppelin? What? This almost deserves a timeout.

My choices for bands that do nothing for me:
    Phish (horrible).
Black Keys (I don't rush to take them off when they are playing... but I could easily do without them).
White Stripes (my buddies are 'all in'... but for me... the 'hook' has never been taken).
Motorhead (respect is given... but I don't 'get' them).
Steppenwolf (Born to be Wiiiiiyyyyiiilld makes me want to poke pins in my eyes).
Deep Purple (I feigned enthusiasm for many years with my friends).

You may not "get" them, but they are far from horrible. Pound for pound they are more talented than almost every band listed in this thread.

They fit my description of horrible. You'd think with all that talent they could produce something that was a little easier on the ears.

No offence intended- I kinda though this was a non-threatening thread to post as you saw it.

The Doors is another band I just can't stand. Fuck, Jim Morrison gets on my nerves. What's worse is the fans who claim he was some emotionally scarred poet. No. He was a "drunken buffoon posing as a poet."

I have friends who say the same thing but also have friends who think the opposite. I happen to be in the middle. I really like The Doors a lot. I am not obsessive about them the way some people are. But I understand why they would be on some people's list for this topic. L.A. Woman is one of my favorite albums ever. They sound like the world's greatest bar band on that album.

I also like The Doors. What is there not to like?
Besides, Pearl Jam, when they came out, reminded The Doors a lot, IMO. One charismatic outspoken frontman and geniouses behind.
I also love the Eddie Vedder - Doors connection. I take pride in it.
What's your part, who you are?

I've got a bunch of them

    Radiohead
Muse - the singer's voice is aweful imo
U2 - have tried to like them, even bought a couple albums, they just do nothing for me
Coldplay - I heard Chris Martin perform live once, he sounded nothing like the albums, he couldn't hold a note, I have never cared for them at all
Foo Fighters - Sawy them live when they first started out and liked the performance, now I change the channel as soon as they come on
    Dave Matthew's band

I like certain songs from most of these popular bands but no way in hell could I listen to them 24/7 like I do with PJ. I was big into Kiss in the 70's, U2 in the 80's, then PJ from 92 to infinity.

Erm, no -- I think I know just the right number of people. Perhaps having a beer in your room while watching ESPN would be more enjoyable?

We are past the soccer stage, but the pre-game soundtrack always included Soul Coughing's "Super Bon Bon" and the Beastie Boys -- always.

Now that I am driving to rehearsals instead, we listen to Cake, PJ, the Beasties, Queen, and Beethoven cranked to 52. 8-)

    Bon Jovi -- sheesh.

    ;)
