I used to get this after a tour, but oddly this is the first tour I didn't get it. I was kinda glad I was done seeing them after 6 shows this tour. Blasphemy, I know. Maybe I've finally seen too many shows? I do know that I was tired of driving all over the place to see them, and tired of work piling up back at the office while I was gone, tired of being away from my family, tired of drunk idiots spilling beer on me and yelling "woooh!" in my ear every 30 seconds.

As for the shows themselves, every PJ show is great. But after seeing Pittsburgh and Buffalo, I could have missed the next 4 shows I saw, and not really been too upset about them. I feel like the setlists have become pretty uninspired. (Other than "Otherside" at Worcester 2, which I missed) They allegedly soundcheck great songs, and then don't play them. They play the SAME songs off the new album night after night, missing one of the best songs on the album (getaway). In back to back nights in the same city, they repeat too many songs. I've heard for years about what goes in to writing a setlist and I just don't see the effort this year. I've always heard they consider what they've played in that city in recent stops, but that doesn't seem to be a consideration anymore. (e.g. Pilate was played at Spectrum 4 and on this tour in Philly) Again, I'm not complaining, I enjoy every PJ show very much. But when they start to become routine (e.g. Pendulum to open every night), the drive to see them over and over goes away.

Just my opinion and I'm sure it won't go over well. But maybe the cure for the PJ concert drug is to overdose on concerts.

Totally can relate to this after 3 shows.
But that is how life works - the Ying and the Yang, after any "High" comes a "low" - just ride it out.
It will wear off with time. Overall, the "High" of the show is still worth it - just remind yourself of that.

I just close my eyes, blast the music and relive the show in my mind. And sing loud and jump around. My kids think I am nuts. Sometimes even just cry.
Then, I remind myself how lucky I am in life to have found something that makes me feel so incredibly good that is not harmful or bad for you and doesn't cost a ton of money. Try to celebrate what this band/music does for your life. That makes the blues slip away real quick for me. :)
Hope it gets better for you soon!

After 5 shows in 7 days (Bk1,2, Phil 1,2, Hart) the post tour blues are in full effect. I find myself checking prices on the dreaded Hub, (I dont ever buy tix there) for shows I darn well know I won't be able to go to! Like, hmm, can I swing a quick 3 days in LA which is only 3000 miles away? Or, eh, the wife and family won't mind if I miss Thanksgiving because I flew out west. Haha.

Although Worcester 2 was my favorite show this year, Living Colour was the 2nd best...
Soundgarden and The Black Crowes probably tied for 3rd...
Then the Worcester 1 and Hartford PJ shows are maybe tied for 4th...

I'm dying to see Adrian Belew play live sometime.

Okay I'll shut up now. 8-)

Yeah, it's set in. After 8 shows (everything but Worcester 1 and 2), Baltimore was my last East Coast show. But when I heard there was a Charlottesville ticket drop today and saw I could get Row E on my side, I checked flights to see if I could get there by 8PM! Yes, I am crazy...

Only light at the end of the tunnel, we are going to Seattle in December!

My favorite part of this thread if that other people look into shows they know good and damn well they can't go to also. Of course, sometimes that results in you dropping a quick unexpected $300 and booking it to Baltimore with a friend you haven't seen in months, but it worked out sooooooooooooooo well!

I am NOT getting on a plane to the west coast though.

Any back to back weekend shows coming up?

Before Charlottesville last night, I might have agreed with this somewhat, but last night was a huge shock. It was unreal.

I started feeling the post-show blues about 30 minutes ago, but then I realized that last night was a one-of-a-kind sort of thing, and I wouldn't be able to beat it by going to any more shows. I got more than I ever would have expected. I am happy.

I already knew by yesterday morning that it was going to take a few days to feel like myself again. Besides feeling sore, drained and having very little voice left, I do feel a bit depressed today. And I'm having thoughts of trying to see some west coast shows, which is just crazy talk. I think beer, Grand Theft Auto and football on Sunday will help me through these trying few days.

Man. Living color just played here last month and I couldn't get any one to go with me. They all laughed cuz of "cult of..." Was all they knew, but I knew the show woulda been killer. :/

    MORNING OF WITHDRAWAL DAY 3.
In full swing depression. Almost lost it at work a few times last night.
Told a new manager (former wait staff / co-worker) to "shut the fuck up" and go away. Told the owner the same and walked away from him. Bunch of drama that isn't my fault, but the blues just exacerbate my reaction ten fold.
Had my bolt wristband on in hopes it would keep me in spirits. Didn't work.
    Doh.

Your depression will end when you get the bootleg, then you will listen to it 100 times... Then you will want to go to all shows on the next tour, but knowing that you may not go to any... Then you will have anxiety attack... Then they will announce tour... Then you will get anxiety attacks more during the lottery. Then you will get tickets and be happy... Then you will go to show and have the best time ever... Then you will be depressed again. Vicious cycle.
